Hi JennyJ! We're date twins! Happy 88 days left.
I voted that things were coming along nicely, but I alternate between that and panic about getting everything done.
This weekend we booked our rehearsal dinner venue and Saturday I'll be going for my first dress fitting. I have my shoes, but no veil or hair piece. Haven't decided what I'm doing about that just yet, but I'm eyeing some $20 veils on e-bay.
I need to plan out music with my friend who will be playing flute, purchase wedding bands and print my own invites. I've been playing with the templates and I've printed a few sample ones.
Good luck!
Yay for date twins! Wow, july09bridetobe, you're already having a dress fitting, how exciting! I'm not planning on that until the beginning of June. We've already sent out invites (since we didn't do STDs and have a number of OOTs) and figured out my veil and accessories (except for shoes, you win on that count too!). It's neat to see where each person is farther ahead. I'm starting to panic about certain details (like the ceremony music and flowers), but overall things are okay.
I'm the Sunday of the same weekend as both jenny.j and july09bridetobe.
My dress isn't even due to the shop until June 18 (which I'm a little anxious about) and I haven't seen a proof of our invites yet, but I'm not really worrying about that until this weekend. We have just barely started thinking about the ceremony, and won't dive into the details until we get more information from our rabbi.
I have a lot (a lot!) to do, but I'm not too anxious. We got engaged in mid-January, so we're about halfway through our engagement, and more than halfway through the planning.
I feel the same way as you, ErinMarguerite! We just started planning in late January (though technically he proposed in August of 2008, long story), so I think I'm on track considering a six month engagement period.
I can see why you're anxious about the dress - I hadn't realized when I started looking (late Feb) that they would take so long to ship, yikes! Everyone was telling me I might need a rush order, so I was happy to find THE dress in the right size that I could take home with me that same day. Did you have the option of having the dress rushed? Although from what people have told me the dresses tend to arrive early, they just give you a later date for a time cushion.
I'm actually starting to calm down about things now that I've got most of the big things squared away.
I know that on the day of:
-He and I will both be at our venue
-I will have a dress (although it might not fit ... should probably get started on fittings)
-with bridesmaids! Who also have dresses!
-We'll all be carrying flowers!
-We'll have a photographer to take pics,
-and a caterer to make us yummy food,
-and chairs for everyone to sit in!
I consider this major progress. Now I just have to work on decor, music, groom's and groomsmen attire, and the ceremony details.
Mostly feel like things are under control, but a few details are hanging over me. Also, scheduling final meetings with many of our vendors (photogs, reception venue, dj...) Are other people a little overwhelmed with all that scheduling?
PS-my invitations are stuffed, stamped, and sitting in my apt waiting to be sent in early May. Can't wait!!!
I am sooo nervous about everything falling into place. I just emailed my soloists for the ceremony. I only had 2 of the 3 songs selected. It's scary to let it go and tell them to get back to me about it.
I still have to finish up our invitations (we did our inserts ourselves), favors, pre-marital counseling, bouquets, find an apartment for after our wedding... etc, etc.
Anyone else feel like your list keeps getting bigger?!
I've been planning my wedding, which is in Milwaukee, remotely from DC which has been a bit of a challenge. We are headed out there this weekend to wrap up everything (hopefully). I have a hair trial scheduled, meeting at our reception restaurant, meet our officiant, devise the set up for our ceremony space, assemble all the favors and glue the stems onto my origami flowers. It'll be a busy couple of days.
The one thing I am having a mini-freak out about is the transportation of our guests. I (foolishly) tasked FI with this since I had handled most everything else and he's the Milwaukee native! We are only having about 20 guests so we want to get a limobus to bring them from their hotel downtown to our ceremony site and then back downtown for dinner. He procrastinated depsite my repeated reminders. July is prime wedding season in Wisconsin and now that he's finally asking for quotes people are booked. I keep telling myself that we'll figure it out and not to worry, over and over and over...
Where r u having ur reception jenny.j? We're getting married the same day as u!
We just picked out our wedding bands last night. We've also sent our invitations out last week. I have my dresses already and i think they still fit. I don't have a veil or hoop skirt yet. We still have to finalize our music, timeline and programme.
My biggest worry though is finding a make up artist and hair stylist for my 7 bridesmaid and 2 MOHs...
ShoeHunter: We're having our reception on the University of Guelph campus, actually at the student coffee pub. It's a round building they used back in the 1900s for animal competitions. It should be fun! What about you, where are you holding your reception? Are you in southern Ontario?
FutureTacco: My list definitely keeps getting bigger - so many things I hadn't thought of are starting to pop up. Yikes!
katrinab: Sending off the invitations (and starting to get really flattering feedback) has been one of my favorite parts of this whole process! It's real - people are coming! Everything else will fall into place.
I'm from mississauga and we're having our reception at Le Jardin. Ur venue sounds exciting and fun :)
Jenny.J--when I bought my dress, they told me it would be in my May 20, so I didn't think I needed a rush option. I didn't find out until two weeks ago when I was finally able to get my hands on a swatch (after a month-long effort), that it's now coming in a month later! It should be okay--I won't need a hem, at least, which should save some time. As long as I don't think about my dress coming in so late, it doesn't make me too anxious.
I can't believe so many of you have invites out. I feel WAAAY behind now. I just got the proof from my brother-in-law today. And that wasn't even for all of the inserts!
Eeek!
hey ErinMarquerite we're date twins!! I'm so excited... can't wait. Like everyone else, my list seems to be getting longer and longer. I go for my first dress fitting tonight!! :-D SOOO excited! I placed my order for my BM dresses about 3 weeks ago and was orininally told that they would be in within 6 weeks. Well come to find out they would be in 9 (YES NINE) days before the wedding. All my BM's live out of state (AR, WI, CA) so that just wasn't going to work... I had to work pronto to find new dresses (ugh)... but all is better now... :-)
July 25!! yeah! I have almost everything done. Just some details I have to work on, but Im waiting till I get all the rsvp's back, so I know the count. Oh, yeah and I have to work on the reception music for the DJ. Other then that, just making payments and giving the final count.
so excited!

July brides, I just wanted to check in and see how everyone's planning is going! There are still so many details that need to be worked out, oh my goodness.
Still to do:
Oh my goodness, usually I'm super laid back but when I see things start piling up like this it even freaks ME out!
How is everyone else doing?
