You open now so you can check to see if anything is broken, and so you can send your thank you from now. They know they sent it early so clearly they are ok with you having it early. Just think, it gets a thank you out of the way! Also if they send a check early I think you are supposed to send a thank you immediately and THEN cash the check. However we just got an early check and my fi insists on not cashing it. I'm letting him win because on the outside of the card it said "On your wedding day" but we opened it anyway. Haha.
Isn't it fun? We've been opening as we went, so that we could write thank you cards ahead of time. I don't buy any of that good luck/bad luck stuff when it comes to gifts.
I think Doctorgirl is right! There's nothing wrong with opening the gifts ahead of time - especially since you can get a jump on all of the thank you cards.
I think the rule is open, just don't use! Happy present opening! :-)
Definitely open, so you can see that everything is in order and so you can write your thank-you notes!
You're commiting no faux pas in opening them! Do it now so you can get a head-start on your thank you notes!
I see no problem opening. I opened ours to make sure that nothing is broken. Happy Opening!!
I am pumped! my FI won't let me go and pick up the gifts that are bought from the registry yet. he is so mean! lol
I say open and write those Thank You NOW! It will make your life after the wedding so much easier :)
my fiance has a custom it is unlucky to open your gifts before the wedding; we got our first one from his aunt

I feel like a little kid at Christmas because we've already started receiving wedding presents delivered to the house.
I almost forgot about our registry completely. Today I came home and the H2B was like, "What did you order from Bed Bath & Beyond?" I literally had to check my guilty conscience and see if I "forgot" to tell him that I bought something. Hahahahaha Not this time though. I was a good girl!
Here's the dilemma. Do we open them now or wait until after the big day? I've heard it's bad luck to wear your wedding band before the big day and it's also bad luck to open the gifts before then. What do you think?
