This is my first post here, so hello, everyone! I’ve resisted the wedding boards thus far, but with eight months to go, I’m cracking under the pressure. 🙂
With my dress finally bought (Strapless! I never dreamed I’d wind up with a strapless dress), I’m finally giving some thought to what I should do with my hair. I generally wear it in a ponytail for work and I’m in love with the idea of long, loose curls with a mantilla-type veil. However, I’ve had a lot of people tell me that by the end of the day, my hair will be a mess and that I should just go with putting it up.
So what say you, Bees? Are you planning to wear your hair down for your wedding, or have you done so? What would you recommend? My hair is naturally wavy and holds a curl very well, if that influences your response at all. I’ve attached a photo of my hair with curls and the dress I chose.
Thanks so much in advance!

I wore a strapless dress and posted for my hair down. I have long, thick, straight hair that usually loses it’s curl relatively fast but by some miracle I kept my curls all the way thought our receptwith and didn’t feel the need to pin my hair up (I usually rock a ponytail most of the day if I’m not out of the house). I was very happy with how great my hair looked with my dress and veil in all of our wedding pictures 🙂 HTH!

I wore mine mostly down – but I tied it up loosely while I ate/when it got really warm.
I liked it both ways – heaps of people commented on my hair which I didnt think looked that much different to how I normall wear it (a bit more volume) but when I wore it up people assumed I had someone actually do it for me inbetween the ceremony and reception…. I literally just loosely tied it up with a hair tie while at the table. It really changed the look of my dress too – it went from being very grecian and flowy to looking more structed and victorian or something.

I get a migraine so fast with my hair up. Even loosely threaded up like my hair girl did for our e pics. I wear it down mostly everyday and feel prettier. It’s growing fast and super healthy. I want to wear it down but have a one shoulder dress …I don’t know what style yet.

Without a doubt, I would go with it down!

I don’t like how I look with my hair up, so I wore it down as usual. You should too! I think it looks very romantic!
This is what mine looked like:

Someone today just posted wedding pics and her hair was long, down and curled, and her hair looked great all the way to the end!

OP, I’m most likely doing half up/down because, like you, I couldn’t decide..!
I feel prettier with my hair down, but I like how formal an updo looks…

@6598731ssfse3: I love your hair!! Did you wear a veil with it? That is my biggest worry if I do my hair like this…how will they get the veil to stay put??!

@PeachSnapple: I did wear a veil for the ceremony and a few of our portrait photos. My hair was teased and I only had the little plastic comb thing keeping it in (no bobby pins, etc) and it held itself just fine.

@6598731ssfse3: Wow you are gorgeous – you look like Josie Maran!
I wore my hair down. I think it looks romantic too, and it stayed perfect till the end. Not a mess at all 🙂 If you like the look, go for it!!

I hate how I look with my hair up so I will be wearing it down. My gown is strapless too. I plan to have it curled into retro waves and then pinned to the side.
