@brownfam11:  First, breath. Take life one step at a time. It’s great that your DH is ready to go back to school and strive for better. Though you may feel ready for a home, are you two financially prepared to buy a home (even if your DH doesn’t go back to school)?

@brownfam11:  Don’t let appearances fool you! It may feel this way because you are still in school.

We both graduated 3 1/2 years ago (DH finished his master’s last year) and we have stable jobs, but DH still wants to switch career fields. We are financially prepared to buy a home, but he cannot decide what he wants to do/where he wants to live!

Perhaps consider taking a year or two off between undergrad and grad school to work and gain more stability. It really gives you a better perspective and makes you a better candidate. It is also a breather 🙂

I know exactly how you feel! I only have two semesters left of undergrad, but I’m seriously having the hardest time finishing it. I just want to be able to buy a home, get married, start a family, etc. without having to worry about a combined $60,000 in school debt between the two of us. It’s just so difficult when you know what you want in life, but you have to put it off for months or even years to get there the “right way.”

That’s probably the biggest problem. You know that you want to be a dentist, and you know that your DH is planning on going back to school. You now know what your future is going to be like, and it’s hard to imagine spending the next few years working to obtain that goal, but how else can you get there without working?

It’s so hard!
