Yay Seattle Brides!  We were engaged on 9/3/09 in Disneyworld and the wedding date is 1/16/11.  So far I have bought my dress and the venue/caterer is booked.  After those initial items I have spent these few months making decisions for what I want so I can buy when a good price is found.  We have a tentative decision made on the band, photographer, and florist.  We’re waiting to official decide those after the Seattle Wedding Show.  Are you going?

I planned from Seattle, but wasn’t an official Seattle bride.  I have, however, been to plenty of wonderful Seattle weddings πŸ™‚

YAY – I am a Seattle Bride too YIPPEEE – We just got engaged this past weekend on Roche Harbor.  We weren’t going to begin planning until January however questions from friends/family have gotten us stressed – this weekend we are seeing two venues, Georgetown Ballroom and SODO Park by Herban Feast.  Tell me about the Wedding Expo, I saw that it will be in town, what are they all about – do you Bee’s know?

We got engaged 7/17/09 and are getting married 7/4/10!  We have almost everything booked:

Venue for ceremony and reception: W Hotel

Photographer: Joey Nicole Photography

Band: Michael Benson Band

Florist: not booked yet but hopefully Kendra from Elements in Bloom

Dress: Alvina Valenta from Belltown Bridal

All I have left to do are to send out STDs and make my invitations.  And pick out bridesmaid dresses.  And officially ask my girls to be my bridesmaids.  And find shoes.  And jewelry.  And block hotel rooms.  Oh geez…. πŸ™‚

Jackie-o, I went to the wedding expo last year with a friend who was planning her wedding.

A few tips:  Print out sticky address labels ahead of time so that you can enter all the fun drawings for prizes and won’t have to write your information out a million times.  Eat a good healthy snack before you go because all they have there is cake. πŸ™‚ Wear comfy shoes.  Try to get a look at the vendor list before you go so that you can organize your day, because it can get overwhelming really fast.  And unless your fiance is super duper into weddings, I would tell him that he can stay home.  I went in the role of “Supportive bridesmaid” and even I was a little hungry cloud of irritation by the time the day was over. πŸ™‚  Take your mom or your best friend, because they will probably enjoy it much, much more than he will.

Oh!  And I remember they had a coat check at one of the charity booths right at the entrance; totally worth the $5 or whatever I gave them, because there are a million brides at the expo and it gets sooo hot in there!

It’s really fun though, if I wasn’t going to be in Miami for a wedding that weekend I would totally go, even though I have all of my vendors figured out. πŸ™‚

Wow GreenBee, we’ve got a lot in common!  I also got engaged on 12/5 and would love to have an October wedding in Seattle, but due to a lot of things (including work schedules), I’m not sure that’s possible… however, we’re also waiting until January to really start planning, so right now I’m answering everybody’s questions with “I don’t know” and “I’m enjoying being engaged!” πŸ™‚  I love seeing and hearing about Seattle bees though – I’m living in Portland now but am from Seattle and am planning on getting married there.

@Miss Root – – THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!  My sister will be coming with me as we are the two that live here in Seattle (parents are in LA) and she is my MOH.  My FI is not coming, I didn’t even think it was an option, LOL.  Thank you SO much for those extremely helpful tips!!!  Laughing

Loving you Seattle Ladies!  Noticed our board was a little quiet. Hoping to join you all in a few weeks. My bf of 6 yrs and I have purchased a ring and now I am just waiting….

Hoping to be married 7/24/2010 but we will see if that is enough time!

As far as the expo goes.. wondering if it is worth going to or if you’d be better off hunting for deals elsewhere… Love the tips so far.

Congrats Everyone!

I’m hoping to go to the expo, even though almost all of our vendors are already booked. I think it will be a fun source of inspiration. I might ask FI to go, or my best-friend bridesmaid if she’s available. FI could always get on a bus home early if it’s too much to bear. πŸ™‚

We moved into a wonderful townhouse in Ballard last June when I moved here from the East coast to join FI. We got engaged on May 23rd 2009 in Connecticut where I was graduating from grad school, and are getting married on July 24th 2010 – which somehow seems so much sooner now than I ever would have thought possible. We’re doing the ceremony and reception at Delille Cellars in Woodinville, catering by Ravishing Radish, cake (hopefully, we’re meeting her on January 4th) by Lori Dilio, DJ by Sounds Unlimited, flowers by Florarama (though we talked to Kendra from Elements in Bloom as well and she sounded great too!), photography by Gash Photography, videography by Elysium Productions, officiant from our church, and I ordered my dress from A Princess Bride in Bothell. I’m pretty sure I’m forgetting something in there somewhere. Honeymoon will likely be in an overwater bungalow in Moorea, and we may have to use part of that generous first-time homebuyer’s tax credit to foot the bill for the airfare. Pretty sure it’s worth it.

For now, time to stress over the STDs while simultaneously booking a dogwalker for the week we’re gone for Christmas!  (Hey, anybody in the Ballard area want to play with a delightful little puppy for a few days next week? Anybody?)

@GonnaBMrsB You should stick with the 7/24/10 date, we’d be date twins in the same city!  πŸ™‚

Knew I forgot something. We picked out our wedding bands over Thanksgiving. They’re being purchased from the reputable shop that FI got my e-ring from – his mom’s jewelry store. πŸ™‚ I love them both and I kind of can’t wait until we both get to wear them.

@ GonnaBMrsB we will be keeping our fingers crossed for you!  You will have to let us know the minute the proposal happens!!

@LittlestBirds I was thinking about checking out Florarama, how were their prices compared to Elements in Bloom if you don’t mind me asking?

I love that so many Seattle girls are month twins!  July is going to come up so fast!

@miss root I told all the florists I interviewed upfront what our budget max was for flowers, and asked them to come up with a proposal for what they could do within that. So it’s hard for me to quantify which one had better prices. I liked Kendra with Elements in Bloom but I really got a good feel from Lea with Florarama, she really had some creative ideas for putting together a great look within my budget. I loved that Florarama has a ceremony arch they built themselves available for modification and decoration for rent!
