For my sister I gave my usual funny speech and than quoted a line from the Backstreet Boys and we did a flash mob dance to BSB’s As Long As You Love Me.  It was awesome!!  Totally unexpected and memorable.  And it was 3 years ago so people had never seen something like that.

Be yourself.  Have fun with it.  People always try to be so poignant and serious and that bores the crowd.  Be light and funny and remember its about the bride and groom and not you and the bride. “Remember that time when we…and it was so funny!…”  Yeah….

But perhaps the best is to be brief.  I almost poked my eyes out at a MOH speech that was like above and 4 stapled pages.  Front and back!!

Good luck!!

this is what i recently wrote for my best friends wedding. Parts of it was stolen from a MOH speech i found on google.. it got lots of laughs and wasn’t too horriblely hard to get out:

Before i start, i’d like to say that heather – you look absolutely beautiful tonight, doesn’t she? (waited for crowed) and mike… you look quite dashing in those tails.

for those of you who don’t know me.. i’m Casandra, for those who DO, relax, i’m going to keep this short and kind..

Heather and i were talking recently about how long we’ve known each other.. and realized it was 10 years… 10 years is a LONG time,.. especially around someone like her.

But it seems to have gone by in the blink of an eye… We’ve had so many ups and downs along the way… but the fact remains, we’re still together.

Heather is sorta the family i got to choose.. and i’m so thankful she chose me too.

When heather told me about mike, i thought it was cute that she had an internet crush… when she told me hewas moving here from texas to be with her.. i thought she was crazy!

but still i drove her to the airport, because i figured hey! safety in numbers right? but it turns out she didn’t need any protection, Miked turned out to actually be the guy of her dreams, the stuff that movies are made of.. like those awful movies you used to drag me to in high school?

NOW Mike, i have some advice for you, since i’m giving my best friend away, for you to take care of:

1. heather place your hand on the table, now mike: place yours on top of hers, and see that? THAT is the last time you’ll have the upper hand. (wait for laughter)

2. the movies she picks are going to be terrible. Just accept it. watch them anyway.. they’ll make for some amazing inside jokes (like 1:37 EXACTLY)

and 3. Enjoy the ride life provides with a person like heather.. it’s gonna be a long crazy trip.. and i’m glad she chose you to tag along

NOW i promised this would be short, i’d like to end with a little toast to the bride and groom:

A wedding day will be rememered

for all the joy it brings

a day of love and happiness

of vows and wedding rings

a day of new beginnings

and learning what love truely means

your wedding day is just the start

of many hopes and dreams

May they all come true. Congrats you two, Love you both!

… it feels alot longer when i have to type it with nails. post wedding.. it felt very short when i read it out loud. lol

My husband when doing his thank you speech asked for people to leave us alone while we ate! LOL It got the point across, but this is more of a “don’t do this” suggestion
