I just needed to vent that I HATE that all the prettiest venues in Minneapolis are tied up in a catering monopoly with a caterer that is very unoriginal and very over priced! Grr!

Anyone want to complain with me?

I'm so sorry about that!  I don't have a wedding related complaint but can I pout about cramps?

That sucks. Its the same deal in St Louis too. The caterers in question also have questionable food. ick.

@IlikePink, that SUCKS!!! None of the owners will negotiate a little bit?

I will complain about the fact that three months ago, a coworker of mine quit, and they dumped his whole job on me in addition the one I currently have. AND no extra money, no title change, nothin'. I'm thankful to have my job but I'm being worked to the bone!!! My job is SO stressful these day! Boo!

    I have a caterer complaint!

Nobody in my area will cater breakfasts or brunch. Not even for full dinner prices. Since when is brunch impossible? Ugh.

    Thanks :)

I'll pout about not having a church to get married in, so all my planning is on hold until we find one. :(

@SweetheartDealer- That sounds exactly like what is happening to my FI right now! They fired someone and instead of just replacing him, gave Joe a piddly raise and added 10 new tasks to his job description. LAME.

And there is no negotioning with the Mega-Caterer Venues, because they are all public spaces, and thus the massive government bureaucracy controls the catering. LAME.

I went through that with our original reception venue and we eventually had to break up. I was very, very sad :( Sucks!! We ended up finding a better venue but still, that's just so not fair when they do that!

I wish it were logistically easier to self-cater. I have a very clear idea of the food I want to serve. Frusterating.

I want to pout, too!  I pulled something at the gym tonight and it HURTS.  Cry

I am sorry about the venue and the sucky caterer.  Un-original AND overpriced is a BAD combination!

It's like, I don't want to pay $65 per person for Chicken Parmigiana. Ugh.

Joe thinks we should just go with the Qdoba Burrito Bar. Hahahaha.

I don't really have much to pout about, but maybe we can all be excited that the FI had to go buy a new futon mattress and instead of the meh, 4" tall one, we found a cheaper 8" tall uber fluffy and comfortable replacement. We're out $170 that I wanted to put towards the wedding, but it's something that will last several years after our wedding.

There are a few places in eden prarie that are really pretty and you can self cater.  I saw a few when I was up there looking for event places for work.  Look out of the box.  One was a really pretty office building with this stunning foyer and huge.  Also there are a few apartment complexes out there that rent out their party spaces, and I looked at a few lofts there that could hold a couple of hundred easily.

    Hope it helps....Good luck.

Can I join in? I'd like to pout about the fact that I am just a hair over halfway through J's and my 4 month stint apart (our LAST one at least!) and it has been quite possibly the longest, slowest, most boring two months of my life.... and the next two aren't looking to be any better!

I'm sorry to hear about so many other pout-worthy situations too :( hope they all get resolved soon!

oh, I forgot, empty store fronts.  A really good friend of mine just started renting out his empty store fronts for receptions and the like.  With the economy, they are better renting it for a day and getting something, than getting nothing at all.  And they are cheap, only drawback, he only rents three months in advance.

I fractured my foot at work today. And I was going to be heading away this weekend, we were going to drive to our capital city, to get some stuff for the wedding. Im seirously hoping I will be good enough to go.

But im sick of not having any selection in this city of mine. It sucks royally!
