I am 5'8" and the same height as my FI in bare feet. I am not keen on the idea of towering over him at the altar. So I am also looking for flats.
I bought some blue peep toes at Urban Outfitters for my engagement session. I thought I might wear them as my something blue, but the blisters I got at the engagement session were enough to make me think otherwise. But they are darn cute!
Otherwise, did you know you can design your own Keds? Check it out - http://www.zazzle.com/custom/shoes. How cute would it be to wear sneakers in your colors? You could even get the date put on them. I like the idea, but FI is not on it.
Knowing myself, I'll probably go with some kind of sandal or flip flop and clip a flower on it. Or, DIY flowers for my own shoes. I live in flip flops in the summer.
I did a quick search. Wouldn't these be cute for a preppy summer wedding?

Not sure what your budget is. Here’s a pair of Jimmy Choo (siiigh) – and they’re on sale at DSW for $199!! Down from $500!
If I wasn’t saving for a wedding… they’d be mine too! :) The link's here
I'm 5'8" as well, and I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing heels at my wedding. Here are the Stuart Weitzman sandals I picked up...
Oh and I suppose I should add I don't spend money on shoes. I don't think I've ever paid more than $60 ever. Except for running sneakers that is. So my budget would really be under $50. Possibly more if they were perfect and able to be worn again day-to day.
It's a nearly impossibly task, I know!
These are mine! I'm pretty tall at 5'10" but my FI is 6'3" so I could wear heels, but my dress is just long enough with flats...and I want to be comfortable!
@ eryepye: Those are awesome shoes! Who is the designer? I can't read the insole.
I was thinking about getting these for mine... thought they might fit what you are looking for too!
a bit pricey because they are giuseppe zanotti but classy and cute

This lady on Etsy makes some really cute flats and she does custom orders too.
@stevoluvmunchkin - thanks for that link - I've been looking for super cute flats for my reception for a while now and haven't found anything that takes my fancy - now I could just have them custom made AND such a reasonable price!
these are my shoes (in magenta) I love them!

I'm going for the romantic soles Geneva!!
(They have tons of colors in these, and they're only $65 from zappos.com!) BONUS - Big feet gals, they go to size 12 and have wides!
ashleyjane! Where did you get those? Is there a link to a website for them?? They're gorgeous!
I got them at nordstrom:)They look kind of gold-ish in that pic but they're white ( I think the color is called bone )They're by Jeffrey Campbell

I don't do heels. Period. I hate them with a passion. Unless absolutely necessary, I get by with cute flats, sandals, or a comfortable wedge (love BORN shoes). I have a beautiful gown - strappless chiffon, a band of beading just below the bust, with a sweep train. Not only do I not like heels, but also my ceremony and reception will be outside on grass. We'll be taking pictures in a slate riverbed and along a park trail, so heels would most definitely not be practical.
So lets see all the non-heel wedding shoes! (Preferably not the standard white, closed toe flat sold at most bridal stores)
