got the newest star trek movie on dvd for $8 for my dad, a pandora bracelet/charm for my mom (unfortuantely these seem to never go on sale but i figured i might as well just buy it), a microwave, king size flannel sheets for $35, the final set of our flatware for $35 (usually $70).

@ms.melli:  I just bought some stuff online for Christmas gifts – some of which I’d already bought and can now get 60% off – guess I have some returns to make!

I also bought myself a super cute peacoat (Christmas present from FH – regular $120 on sale for $34.00).

I have not gone out on a Black Friday for over 20 years. It is pure insanity and I refuse to be a part of it. I am concentrating on giving American made gifts or gift certificate/cards to small locally owned businesses.

I’m bewildered by how black friday has become a thing in Canada! I don’t recall it being so crazy last year. I bought a pair of Frye boots from an online American retailer less than half price (incl. taxes, shipping, and duties to Canada). I’m really glad I scoured a few sites for sales 🙂

I got a bunch of stuff for our new house! A new bed frame/headboard (!!!) that was 60% off, 400 TC cotton sheet set for $35, alternative down queen comforter for $30, a bunch of blankets for pretty cheap, extra pillows for $3, a blender for $15, crock pot for $20, a bunch of towels, a big pyrex set, a bunch of odds and ends for kitchen tools, and a good sized oval mirror that reminds me of my departed great-aunt. I went a little overboard, but we need pretty much EVERYTHING, and I got it all at a really good price 🙂

The best part though, was that I got it all online, so I didn’t have to deal with the madness, lol

I didn’t do a whole lot of shopping, but I got a $60 videogame for $40 and a comic book that was $20 for $17 for DH. Also, I bought my Salvation Army Giving Tree gift, which was for a five year old boy. DH and I got a Batman playset of Gotham City that was $45 and on sale for $25.
