I haven’t done it but I think it’s a wonderful idea.  Buy all your Christmas winter decor on clearance during the day after Christmas sales.

My daughter’s wedding was winter-ish but not wonderland or Christmas.  It just had a few little touches here and there.  She planned her date around the Super Bowl.  I’m not sure how a Christmas time wedding would affect travelers.  But I would love it!

Look on pinterest! I’m doing a Christmas theme for our 12.13.14 wedding and found tons of ideas on there.

I wouldn’t do NYE personally as I would feel bad about depriving my guests of NYE parties 😛 But I like the idea of a christmas/winter wedding theme.

becca89:  I actually went go a NYE wedding a couple of years ago and it was great! We didn’t have to debate what we were going to or end up disappointed with an inevitable let down. I definitely didn’t feel deprived of anything!

sproggy93: good to know! FI did suggest a NYE wedding for us actually as it’s our anniversary of when we started dating. I still probably won’t do it, but it’s good to know the guests wouldn’t necessarily mind 🙂

becca89:  I don’t think they’ll mind either but I’m biased b/c I’m having a NYE wedding. LOL. I haven’t sent my invites yet but I’ve actually gotten texts from guests saying “don’t forget me” and “I can’t wait to celebrate” and these were from people I was inviting but not necessarily sure if they’d attend.

Whatever you decide, keep us posted 🙂

Just some food for thought regarding a NYE wedding.  My FI and I have a firm rule that we do not attend any wedding that falls on any holiday.  We are both very firm on keeping to our traditions.  I’m sure we are not the only ones who feel this way.

We did our wedding in Feb and has really warm weather – +3 degrees celcius. We had mud and no snow – I really wanted snow 🙁 But I was super happy with how the pictures turned out. We had it at a pioneer village and our colorus were plum and cranberry with a lot of pinecone accents, lanterns and candles. It was really hard to go with a winter theme without it looking christmacy. I love Christmas weddings but in Feb it just isn’t appropraite anymore.
