Our cake was alternating chocolate and vanilla with canoli filling and chocolate buttercream frosting. It was delish!

we're hoping to have this cake, but a little more fuchsia than pink, two tiers instead of four, and it will have a real fuchsia peony on it:

FI designed our cake when we went to the baker together (yup...had no idea he was going to care about the cake that much...lol), so I don't have a picture :(
But it will be a 3 tiered-square cake with white buttercream frosting, and it will have purple ribbon around the tiers and purple and white flowers on the top and cascading down the cake.
Our flavors will be chocolate & vanilla marble with mocha buttercream, and white almond with seedless raspberry filling. Can't wait to eat it...mmmm.
My cake will look like this except it will be in a light ivory color and there will be black ribbon with maybe some sparkle at the bottom of each tier. Will be four tiers tall.

Here's mine. It's a little old school but it was absolutely delicious. It was red velvet and everyone loved it.
wow, everyones cakes are amazing. Here was ours:
2 layers of chocolate, one layer of vanilla. buttercream vanilla icing with little beaded things in it...

Cupcakes: These were BY FAR the best cupcakes I have ever had AMAZING

I don't have a picture of our cake inspiration. We chose from a book at the bakery, and asked for it to be stacked instead of seperated. It's 3 tiers, vanilla with raspberry filling, with some buttercream swags, and it has pink gumpaste flowers on it. I love the price - $150 for the three tier cake with gumpaste flowers! Yes, I admit it, my cake is a WalMart cake. Oh well. It was low on our priority list.
We did a tiered chocolate cake with chocolate frosting ( neither of us wanted foundant) haha it was unique and personal since we are both chocoholics

We are having something quite different as our wedding is taking place in Tuscany so we decided to embrace the tradition there and do a millefoglie cake. They make the cake infront of the guests prior to the cate cutting.

on another note, have any of you seen this idea, it's made out of cheese, for those without a sweet tooth!!

Wow, such pretty cakes everyone has!
I drew out what I want my cake to look like, our colors are a plum purple hue (with about 3 other shades of plum and purples) and black. So I am going with fondant for the look of cake I want, and using ribbon as well to tie it all together.
Here is what I drew up, I am thinking I will be doing a three tier instead of a four tier, so minus the top layer with the draped lace look.

Just kidding :) It is my cake as in I made it (recently; not in 1985) for a client.
All of your cakes look so yummy. I love it that people don't feel like they are limited to the traditional 3 tiers of white cake covered in fondant.

This is our strawberry short-(wedding)cake!


Mine was originally suppose to have a quilted pattern on it but my SIL had just started her cake classes and didnt have the pattern roll and didnt feel comfortable doing it by hand so we left it plain... Oh well I still loved it!
Top Layer: Vanilla
Middle Layer Yellow
Bottom Layer: Chocolate


The top will be red velvet the 2nd layer will be chocolate the 3rd will be vanilla and the bottom will be red velvet again.
@MrsRuby: She did a great job, the fondant looks so smooth (hard to do) :)
Here is our wedding cake.
The vase on the top is a family heirloom that has been used on every single wedding cake on my mum's side of the family for over 150 years.

This was our cake... I was simply obsessed with it the moment I saw it at our reception! The layers alternated with armaretto & almond then with red velvet, creamcheese & rasberry fillings. Ah-mazing. A couple hours after seeing our cake, I recentered our cake topper... It was bugging me that it wasn't directly on top of the cake. lol :)

I love all these cakes! We had a fall theme (green, gold, chocolate brown) and had 4 different flavors (red velvet, strawberry, country pear, and pumpkin spice). It was SO delicious, and I am really glad we didn't go with a more traditional color scheme. We also had NO idea what we were going to put on top of the cake until the day of - a beautifully creative friend went to Michaels and a grocery store (for flowers) with my FI at about 1pm on our wedding day. Those stories make it so fun to me.


* I just realized the ribbon looks purple from the photo editing - it was brown!

So now that I went to see our baker and picked out everything, it makes me excited to post it and see everyones cakes and flavors... Post your inspiration picture, real pictures, or even if your wedding has passed; post those and the flavor of your cake.
Here is my wedding cake inspiration, it will look exactly like this but instead of the ribbon on the 2nd teir we added bling around it. So it will be ribbon on the first teir, bling on the 2nd, and ribbon on the 3rd. Our flavors are: the 1st and 3rd teir are wedding cake and our 2nd tier is red velvet cake :D
