that's awesome! congrats!
i started working out in january and two months later, i'm STILL working out. lol. that's a first since i tend to lose interest in video based workouts [i'm working with p90x] and even added jogging to the program, which is shocking because i hate running. haha. but i'm feeling a lot better, even when i pig out on junk food. score one for us!
@tea I too have recently started spending more time on the treadmill. I used to be an elliptical girl and would always say I was not meant to run but now I like the challenge of getting through 5 songs or 6 songs on the ipod at a steady jog of 6.0 and a small incline and doing this for 35-40 minutes with small breather breaks throughout.
Old school Madonna kept me going-I must have looked pretty silly mouthing the words to Like a Viirrrgin. What keeps you going?
Good job ladies. Let's keep at it.
Good luck! Just so you know, there is another post called Workout Buddies where we post about our weight loss goals and progress. Rosie has been posting them for a few months now and I've taken over for a bit.
@tebemrsg, i haven't been running with my ipod just yet. i wanted to get more used to how my body felt when i ran plus, since i'm jogging outside, i wanted to be more aware of what's around me instead of being lost in the music. i miss my ipod. haha. but i'm following a program for beginning jogging that's helped A TON in keeping me motivated to jog. it breaks everything down into manageable sections. this week i jog for 90 seconds then walk for 2 minutes. SOOOO much easier and confidence building than just going out and jogging for however long. that was no fun. haha. now i have tons of smaller victories in each jogging session!
This time of year in NYC the untrained stick to the gyms and treadmills! I wish I could be outside but I have a hard enough time just walking on icy sidewalks let alone running and trying to stay warm.
Congrats! I know what it's like to be overweight- I gained a TON of weight during my freshman year of college and after I got on birth control for a little while. I'm doing exercise videos for my cardio and toning, and I hope to move up to P90X (which honestly looks a little terrifying) in May.
Good luck- it'll be tough, but keep your mind on your fitness goals!
Here's an update!
I recently returned from a girls' weekend in Miami. I fit comfortably into a pair of shorts that were too tight on me last summer. Huzzuh!!!
I also met up with a friend last week who I hadn't seen in a month and she noticed a difference. Niiiice!
On average, I'm working out every other day per month - wow! I never thought in a million years I'd be able to do that!
And this Saturday, I'm preparing myself for my first CN tower climb. 1776 steps to the top!

A while back I posted about how my doc told me I was officially overweight (http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/its-official-im-overweight) and I was really bummed about it at the time. When I posted about it, I was so overwhelmed in the best way possible with all of your replies and words of encouragement. It really made a gal feel like she wasn't alone!
I've been working out like a fiend and have improved on my eating habits since then, and I've decided that I don't want to post any more updates in the old one because it had a negative vibe attached to it.
So here's a new post for all of us to share our weight loss updates, to continue encouraging one another, and celebrate our efforts!
My latest update - I was at a bar with some friends watching the Canada VS US game (YAAAAAAAAAAY CANADA!!!!!!!!!!!!) and I didn't have ONE beer! That's a biggee, especially for a beer guzzlin' Canadian chick like myself. I drank me some soda water with lime all night long, and you know what? I felt great! I was having just as much fun as everyone else and consuming (and paying) less!
