I dyed my hair red this summer, and I do the same thing. Now I wash my hair every 3rd day and I do it in really cold water. It’s quite a change, but I also really love the red hair πŸ™‚

I have a lot of fine blonde hair that is just above the waist, so I have to wash every day or it gets flat and greasy looking… and it is a combo so I have to either dry and curl/straighten, or put it all up in a bun that stays wet all day… bum-tastic…

i’m mixed, korean and black, so my hair is interesting. lol. it’s not too thick though its naturally curly but i straighten it with a relaxer every few months just so i can actually do something with it. its several inches past my shoulders, and has been growing like a mofo since i started getting semi-regular trims. imagine that.

thankfully i don’t need to do too much. i’m able to wash it once a week but now have the option of wearing it curly [since the relaxer tamed my otherwise super curly hair, think diana ross] or flat ironing it straight. i love having options. i just massage in some hair oil every other day to help keep it moisturized. at least, i try to. usually i don’t because i’m lazy and forget.

I can’t go a day without washing my hair otherwise my roots are oily and it looks terrible. How do people go a day or two without washing their hair?

This is probably going to sound really stupid, but why “rinse” your hair with just water instead of using shampoo. Sorry

My hair is brown but with LOTS of red hightlights, so in the sun I alllmost look like a dark redhead.  I love it.  Have never died it… though my FI thinks it would look good if I had it done even more red.  Maybe someday.  Texture-wise the strands themselves are really fine, but I have a lot of hair so all together it looks really thick.  It’s interesting.  I usually shampoo every 3 days.. usually with Brillaint Brunette, though I mix it up for a wash or two every few months because I heard that your hair can get used to a shampoo and it won’t be as effective after a while.

I actually only wash my hair about once a week.

My father is mixed. Scottish, black and American Indian. I have long, curly, SUPER thick hair which is fairly coarse and dry. It gets damaged easily, but stays clean for DAYS. At the moment, it is a little longer than bra-strap length. I wash my hair every 6-7 days. It just doesnt get oily. I dunno. If I wash it more than that, it starts to get really dry. I typically use shamoo for dry/damaged hair and then a deep conditioner. I keep heat-styling to a minimum. I try to braid my hair at night rather than wearing it down or in a ponytail, because that damages it.

I’ve been just about every color possible. Platinum to black, pink, red, green, blue, purple, etc. You name it. Red and black are my favorites. I tend to favor really vivid reds. In the end though, my skin is just too olive-toned for red hair. Plus, the red is soooo high maintenance. My natural color is very, very dark brown, so I usually stick to dark brunette shades and black nowadays.

On another note, I cant wait for my post-wedding chop. I’m going super short. EE! Excited!

@missbiscuit: Actually, that’s completely untrue. Your hair doesnt get used to a particular shampoo. I used to think so too.
