My dear Mustang convertible is 10 years old and even though I love it to bits, I occasionally think maybe it's time to upgrade. What cars do you Bees drive? I'd especially love to hear recommendations on 2-door cars. I've always had Mustangs but want to keep an open mind to other options. I'm a sports car girl but can't do most because I need a backseat. I thought my dream car was a Porsche until I test drove one and got claustrophobic after 30 seconds. Yet not quite ready for a 4-door Sedan yet, so something in between would be great.

I drive a Ford Escape right now.  It's great, especially for dealing with the awful roads in New Orleans!

Currently I drive a Mistbishi Lancer. In the next two years I plan to upgrade to a Subaru Forrester, so we don't have to buy a "family car" when we start having kids.

I drive a Nissan Altima and really want and Infiniti QX56, but in reality when we get another car (probably next year) it will be a Nissan Pathfinder. I need a reliable car and I have two dogs so I need an SUV to put two dogs along with someday soon carseats.

I drive a Honda Civic.  I have the 4 door, but it comes in a two door model, as well.  There's also the Civic Si manual high-performance model, which I wish I had sprung for (fiance asked me to get an responsible car with an automatic so he could drive it, too and in over two years has never, ever driven it.  ARGH).  I've only had it two years, but it hasn't given me any problems, gets great mileage, etc.

I like it, but it's not exciting or anything.  There are like 500 of them in my town, I think.  And that's just in my color.

I drive an Infiniti G35 6MT (six-speed manual transmission, which has 20 more hp than the automatic transmission).  It has a back seat, although sitting in the back for long drives is not ideal for most people, decent trunk space, and is an absolute blast to drive!  For comparison, my FI drives a Porsche (which is definitely in a category all it's own), and even though I love driving his car, I love mine just as much!

    p.s. It's a coupe! :)

I have an adorable 2009 Toyota Yaris hatchback. I love this car to pieces. It gets 41 mpg and looks like a skittle :) It doesn't handle well in the rain and snow though because it isn't heavy enough to keep traction.

I have a 97 Mustang. I LOVE it. Mustangs have always gone for the "fun to drive" element though.

My new lust? The 2011 Camaro. Oh baby. Also, the 2010-2011 Mustangs are arguably the best Mustangs that Ford has produced since the 60s/70s. Another good one to check out would be the Nissan 350z (which is the older model) or 370z (which is the newer one they replaced it with starting in 2009.)

I have a 1990 Acura Integra with 130,000 kms on it, haha.  My Uncle bought it brand new and gifted it to me recently as he doesn't want me attempting to ride my motorbike in the winter (he doesn't realise I let the insurance run out already :p)

Mr. G has a Nissan Tribute, but wants to upgrade.  His cas is amazing on gas, so we won't get rid of it, but he wants a little 2 door sportscar.  The Pontiac Solstice.  He hasn't actually driven one yet, so we shall see if he actually likes it or not!

I drive a 1998 Honda Accord! Not remotely what you are interested in, I'm sure. But it gets the job done and has cruise control and lots of space for road trips.

Plus, it was a gift. And I have no car payment every month.

We drive an 07' ford focus with under 20k miles. My family works in the car buisness so we got it for a steal- is it a super awesome car? No, but it gets us from point A to B and is reliable.

@desert-bride-to-be: I was thinking about getting a new car last year and fell in love with the camry.  IMO, it is the almost lux of a lexis without the price.

I drive a chevy impala (FH picked it out) it's ok, but I really wanted the camry.  I mostly drive our ford pick-up which is ok, but next year I am trading it in for a toyota tundra.

I have a 2010 VW GTI 6 sp manual 2 door and I LOVE IT!! This is my 4th new VW in 10 years and I can't imagine driving anything else but a VW.  My husband drives a 1988 VW GTI 16v 5 sp and it has 300k miles on it! Yup, over 1/4 million miles and it runs like a top! He uses it to commute into NYC everyday and both cars get between 32-35 mpg.

I drive a VW Jetta that I got new at 16 and still love to pieces 7 years later!  It's just a great car!

DH drives a Ford Explorer which he also really likes and he's been lusting after the new ones.  I keep telling him that he doesn't need a new car!

We don't drive! We LOOOOOVE not having a car! Growing up in Texas, I never thought i'd see the day, but life is way less expensive and a thousand times easier without one in Boston. We use Zipcar (an hourly rental service where they have cars parked all over the city - there are 8 Zipcars on my block!) when we really need to do major grocery shopping. But other than that, we take public transportation or walk everywhere. Saves us around $900 a month between a car payment, gas, parking, insurance, etc (not counting unexpected maintenence)

I have everyone beat.  I (still) drive a 1992 Chevy Lumina.  Ladies I was 8 years old when my parents bought this car. LOL.  While I would LOVE a new car, this one still runs, and I am currently unemployed (yay economy!).  The trusty Lumina will have to do for now.

However, within a year or so my FI is wanting to get a new vehicle, so I will end up with his Infiniti. . . a much needed upgrade.

I have an explorer, it doesn't have enough room for all 3 kids though.  We need a 3rd row and mine although it's newer does not have that option.  So we're trying to find a Volvo XC90, I'm in love with it.

We'll keep the explorer and add to our collection *grin* lol.  FI has a '76 Ford, lifted with all that jazz and his commuter car a Honda Accord.

We have his 2 girls every other weekend, and his youngest is still in a rather large booster seat, so they fit in the backseat but not comfortably.

I have a 2007 Pontiac G6 GTP.  I love it!  To me, it's somewhat sporty (and FAST), but has enough room inside that I can have a few passengers and not feel claustrophobic.

2008 black Dodge Caliber. I love love love it. It's not quite as big or high as an SUV, but not as low as a car either. It has a hatchback with fold down seats, holds quite a bit. I don't think I will ever want anything else.

Now of course if I am someday financially able to get a fun sporty car then I'd be going with a black Dodge Challenger :)

@meliss: due to a set of unfortunate car troubles, BF and I had to buy a car in May.  He is very much like you, in that he likes a 2 door sportscar (his last car was a red 99 firebird convertible), and we researched a lot in that type of car

BF is a car guy and narrowed the 2 door coupes down to three choices.  We considered the Chevy Cobalt, the Ford Focus and the Kia Forte Koup.  The Chevy cruze has replaced the Cobalt, but my parents just went shopping at Chevy, and my dad said that the engine is super tiny, so even if it had been around, I doubt we would have gone with it.

Well, we would up getting the Forte Koup.  I wasn't completely sold at first, but after looking at and driving all 3 cars, it definitely was the best car for our money.  It was also much sportier looking than the other two (it was designed by a former Audi designer).  We both LOVE driving it.  The backseat is also very roomy!! My BF keeps sending me articles from yahoo about how it is a top pick for 2 door cars under $20,000.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for the great ideas, keep'em coming! I'm making a list. Even the ones that are not my style, I am enjoying Googling them while I'm eating my lunch at my desk in the office :) So many different models I didn't even know about.

@zippylef: Another Mustang girl, yay! Ooh, I was so in love with the Nissan 350Z for years. I almost bought one two years ago. But then again, the test drive kind of killed it. No backseat and horrible visibility (at least in the convertible with the top up) , although it is a beauty from the outside.

I drive a 1998 Honda Civic (still on my first car).  And while the model is a bit old for a new car, I love Hondas.  I've seen my dad's brand new Civic and it is absolutely gorgeous.  I'm probably going to get a new car next year or so when we're doing better financially.  I'll be looking at Hondas as well as probably a Jetta (more than likely an older version but not too old - just more affordable).
