I’m writing this post about a topic that is bittersweet. My husband and I are doing a very heavy spring cleaning this week as my sister will be moving in with us at the end of the summer. We’ve had a yard sale, donated a lot of our old clothes, and sold various small household items that we don’t use anymore. Going through this “cleanse” of sorts has pushed me to re-evaluate my jewelry collection. I realized there were quite a few pieces that I no longer wear, and while there is a unique story tied to each one, it simply seemed pointless to hang onto every single piece of jewelry I’ve ever owned, knowing my tastes have changed and I’ll never wear them again.
There are certain pieces that are too precious and sentimental to me to part with, but there were others I knew it made better sense to let go of. I took a few “scrap” pieces to the pawn shop, and sold quite a few on kijiji and craigslist. I’ve walked away with about $550. So….now I can go out and spend it on new jewelry!!
Has anyone else fueled their jewelry addiction by selling their old pieces?
