I want my 'maids to feel relaxed and love what they are wearing. So i decided to just give them guidelines and then let them choose from there.

My colors are black, white, red, and burnt orange. I want them to be in black and red. I told them to keep it about knee length, and my ideal would be a bubble skirt or something along those lines. A skirt or dress would be fine.

Has anyone else let them choose??

If so, what would you suggest for better guidelines?

I let my girls choose

I pick 3 designers I liked and got them to choose their favourite!

Once the designer was chosen I chose the colour (fuscia) and told them to go for it and choose the ones they liked and the only reason that I would vito their decision if the formality of the dresses among the 3 of them was different - one really formal and 2 cocktail etc. - but they all chose similar dresses formality wise so everything is GREAT!

i let mine choose. i told them anything with pink and flowers. they knew we are going pretty casual so i wasn't worried about that. those were my only guidelines and they turned out great. i think it all depends on you and what you want though for how much of a guideline you put on the dresses.

I let mine choose. Problem was, they were all worried that the colors wouldn't match...or look good together I guess. I told them knee-length, royal blue-ish. I ended up going on J.Crew and finding the dresses that came in the right colors. I ended up with 7 dresses and they all chose from those 7. They'll all be in the same color but different styles.
