wow this dress is goregous! I don't have a dress the same color, but I wouldn't worry about it, it's beautiful! I had a friend get married in a pink and it wasn't a big deal at all, it's whatever you love!
I did the same exact thing! And then i started freaking out thinking it was going to be real gold! Not one single person i've shown it to thinks its gold, everyone thinks its ivory actually. Here's a pic of mine....
UNC -
Two HUGE things.
1. I'm a UNC alum and I'm assuming you are. When did you graduate?
2. That's my EXACT wedding dress in the EXACT color (Champagne with Ivory lace). So bizarre. Please tell me you're not getting married at the Carolina Inn on July 30th too. :)
Oh, and I obviously think its a great color. :)
I don't have first hand knowledge of the color, but I think that dress is gorgeous! You shouldn't worry!
My dress is also a champagne/"light gold" but like the other ladies have said- it looks ivory in person.
I figured out fairly quickly that I don't look good in white! Mine is an Alfred Angelo:
Mine is a Sophia Tolli in light gold! I'm so excited to have something a little less traditional, and it's very flattering to pale skin tones!
I agree with @cola the gold tone is WAAAY more flattering, especially if you're pale. :o)
I am a Maggie Mirabella bride in light gold- looks ivory to me, although when my dress came in and I 'visited' it it did a appear a little brighter because it was so new, but like Cola I am excited to have something a little less traditional!
the dress you picked is gorgeous!
My dress is called ivory but it looks deeper than ivory... so I would consider it a "light gold".
I love the color... looks great on lots of different skin tones. Don't worry, you made the right choice! :)

My friend wore a light gold Maggie dress! here's a pic of her. It was really pretty =]
mine was a sottero and midgely light gold. I also worried about the color! I hadn't got to try my exact dress on, and I was worried it would be TOO gold (I'm a bit of a traditionalist and don't like to stray too far from the norm lol) But it was great :) In some photos it looks actual gold, in others it looks ivory, depending on the light. My veil was ivory.

I think it will look great. The hottest dress couture runway dress this season was the Gold Romona Keveza -- and it was SUPER gold. . . I think yours will be amazing and from the loooks of the other girls dresses it doesn't look like it will be a dark color.
Thanks Ladies! This makes me feels so much better! You ladies look amazing in the light gold! I'm ecspecially excited to see some blondes are wearing it to b/c I am a little on the pale side w/ blonde Hair!
What do you think of Fuschia pink for bridesmaids dresses?
Legallyblonde - I am a UNC Alum - Class of '02 and I was a journalism major! We have a ton in common - same dress, unc and we are both blonde! We are getting married in enemy territory @ Duke Gardens - I fell in love with it and had to get married there!
mine is cafe colored with white lace overlay - making the whole dress look goldish or ivory depending on the light:

i look horrid in white so gold does much better for my lightskinned overtone.
i was a bit worried when my FH was like "you HAVE to wear white" but he doesnt know the difference between white, eggshell and tan really lol
now to find a veil....
UNCgem - I was class of '08... close though... and I have nothing against you for heading to Duke Gardens - it is absolutely beautiful! We looked into it ourselves, but our wedding date is like the rainiest day of all time according to the farmer's almanac so we decided to have it indoors. I'm sure it will be absolutely beautiful though! Great choice (on everything)!
It isn't a hot pink dress! It looks great, you are going to be beautiful.
I ordered light gold as well and can't wait for it to come! I was told over and over by stores how it great it looked with my light skin tone and in pics I took of it, it doesn't look gold at all. Don't worry! I had to order mine in a shorter length and I am worried about it coming in too short. Yikes!
I tried on a light gold dress, loved it! Thinking it was not "traditional" I ordered it in diamond white. As soon as I got home, I knew I made a mistake and called the store to change it to light gold.
It's a beautiful colour and so subtle that it only becomes "too gold" when holding it beside a white dress. Beautiful dress, btw.
Mine was Maggie Sottero light gold too. I loved it. It looked gorgeous in photos and no one could tell it was a little bit darker than usual wedding dresses.
I also ordered a Maggie (Sottero & Midgley) dress. it took 4 months to come in. it just came in last week. And I am so happy!!!!
You will love your dress. The gold color is beautiful! You will look stunning!
The color may not be traditional but your dress is certainly a wedding dress! Mine is a champagne/gold color as well, but because it is clearly a wedding dress, I LIKE that it is not white. For one, I didn't look fabulous in white and I think it is more interesting and unexpected. Mine is below:

I'm glad to know there are so many other light-gold brides! My dress is Harlow in light gold, I wouldn't have it any other way!!!
I do have a question for you girls though, is anyone doing a veil? I haven't shopped too much since I have 11 months to go but I haven't found one that will match my dress. Any suggestions?!
And thanks for posting the pictures ladies, it's great! I am too scared that my FI will walk by and see the picture up on my computer or else I would :)
Here's my Sopha Tolli... and no, I didn't end up wearing a veil but I made 2... One birdcage using ivory french net and one tulle using gold tulle:

My dress is here!!!! My dress took 3 months to come so it made me nervous! I am so happy that there are so many other people wearing light gold and you ladies look amazing.
Kansasprincess - the day i tried on my dress the bridal shop had me try on a veil w/ the dress....i don't remember what color it was but it definitely matched....maybe they can match you up at the bridal salon. I haven't decided whether or not to wear a veil yet.....
the gold dress looks great! don't change a thing
@uncgem, thanks! the bridal shop I got my dress from isn't in business anymore but I called around and found a store nearby that has Maggie Sottero and some light gold dresses so we can match fabric! :)
I only just found this post. Mines light gold. Its good to know im not alone. Dress is being altered around neckline and also length.

I am seriously loving these light gold dresses! I am also one from the "I don't look good in white" category and that combined w/fact I'm an encore is steering me towards this color or else a rum pink type light color or a cafe color!
I love your dresses!!!!! :)

I am a little nervous about the color b/c it's not traditional. I also think I am a little nervous b/c i haven't seen it/wore it in a month. Did anyone else get a dress in the same color? If so, do u have any pics b/c I would love to see them. HOepfully this will call my nerves.....7 months to go!!!!
