@EMandEM:  Any UV light should work but make sure to get one no more than 10,000 lux because UV light in the extreme can cause skin cancer.  There are lots to choose from at a few price points on Amazon with reviews so why not start there?  Aside from that, if it helps, you might want to consider moving to a state where the sun shines most days of the year.

No specific brand recommendations, but my fiance has SAD and uses both the UV light and once the days start getting shorter, he uses the daylight simulator. It’s made a big difference for him, winters and lots of  darkness is still challenging, but he’s able to function normally. Using it consistently is key, even on weekends.

Careful with these… you don’t want to over-expose your facial skin to UV light.

Are you already taking vitamin D supplements? They turned out to be all I needed. Winter used to make my days a slog to get through (every other season was a joy). Now I’m happy year-round.

@EMandEM:  Self-diagnosed myself with SAD many years ago while living out East (luckily I live on the West Coast now!). I recommend the Verilux brand of full spectrum lighting. I bought my Verilux full spectrum Brookfield Deluxe floor lamp from Amazon. I just checked Ebay Canada and they have some of the desk lamps and bulbs on there. Not sure where else you can buy them in Canada but probably online. Good luck!
