So today I am a little over 9.5 weeks (will be 10 weeks on Sunday) and I went to my normal dr’s appt, which was the first time I was going to get to hear the heartbeat and the dr couldnt find anything. She kept moving it around, asked me if I had been bleeding lately and was visibly getting worried…so of course I got worried..
She was like let’s just do a quick ultrasound (they only do ultrasounds once a week in this office and this was not that day) so someone was using that room as an exam room and she KICKED them out to get me in there….it was so nerve racking!
She squeezed on that warm stuff and put on the thing and bam.. a little baby with a HEAD and arms and legs moving around like a crazy person. I could barely believe it! The last time we saw it (a dating vaginal sonogram about 2.5 weeks ago) it was just like a blob on the screen and now it looks like a real baby! What a bummer that this is the first appointment my husband DIDNT come with me to!
Cant believe the day went from scary to awesome in about 2 minutes. What a rollercoaster these past 10 weeks have been!

I’m glad everything turmed out great.Your doctor may have frightened you unnecessarily. Sometimes you can hear the heartbeat with a fetal doppler at 10 weeks, but more often at 12 weeks.

glad everything turned out well. We had the same exact thing. It was nerve racking to wait those few short minutes to move from one room to the other and for her to get the machine up and going. Hope things continue to go well.

The same kind of thing happened to me. The doctor could not find the HB at first but finally found it after a few minutes. It felt like an eternity. My doctor told me that sometimes the plecenta is in the way and I could get an u/s if he couldn’t find it. The sound of the HB was like music to my ears. So glad your appointment turned out good and you were able to see the baby!! : )

Glad everything is okay. I agree with what a PP said. 9 weeks is early to hear a heartbeat. We didn’t hear one until 12 weeks when pregnant with twins and 14 weeks when pregnant with my daughter.
