Desperatly need a girl name. My son’s name is Benjamin. We like traditional, 2-3 syllable, elegant names for a girl. Preferably not the top 5 names right now but not super out there either. Last name is german, 1 syllable, and rhymes with moon so a lil tricky to find a great name that fits. Our current top two are OLIVIA and CHARLOTTE. But honestly we are not sold on them yet. HELP . THanks in advance.

I think Olivia is in the top five right now (at least on the lists I looked at). I really like PP’s suggestion of Elizabeth! Or I like the way Rebecca sounds with Benjamin.

@cali_cat: I thought of Lyla, close to Layla!
@miss.skinner: I love Charlotte and Olivia. What about Caroline or Lucy?

My hesitations with olivia and charlotte are:
1. Olivia is in the top 5 right now. But, It is a family name on both sides which is a plus and am a Law and Order SVU Oliva fan. 🙂
2. Charlotte is a beautiful name but hard to spell. I am a kindergarten teacher and I can only imagine how difficult it would be for them to spell since it is not phonetic.
I think since I am a kindergarten teacher plus everyone I know has had babies in the past few years, it seems like all names get crossed off the list quickly.
I really really appreciate all the ideas. Thanks ladies

I love Charlotte– it’s a family name and I’ve thought of using it for a long time. I’m hesitant now that it’s getting so popular, though.
What about Caroline?

@miss.skinner: Charlette is adorable. I like the name Becca too though with Ben!

All the Victorias I know have older brother Benjamins, almost without exeption.

@miss.skinner: When I read the title I thought of Bethany. Not sure if you want to do alliteration, but I think it sounds so cute together. Or Elizabeth, its classic, and can be Ben + Beth 🙂
Other random names I think go:

@miss.skinner I am a fan of Lucy or Norah. Claire would also be nice with big brother Ben! Do you have a middle name picked out yet?
