charlestonmorgan: omg, I love this idea! Hadn’t thought of it, but it could be lovely if your dress works with it. My dress is very simple, so a print could be awesome for me.

What does your dress look like?

charlestonmorgan: I did consider doing this, I don’t think it would be too busy if your flowers were neutral (whites with greenery) and you didn’t have loud, colorful decorations or a really busy venue, but with a dock you’ll be fine with that. If you google Lilly Pulitzer bridesmaids there are a lot of pictures. I decided against it because of the cost, I didn’t feel comfortable having my BMs spend $200 on a dress. Have you discussed budget with your girls?

Here’s an example! Bridesmaids in green seersucker, MOH in green with blue floral/panda pattern. And the dresses run from around $148-188.

charlestonmorgan:  I’ve photographed a couple of weddings where they did Lily dresses for the BMs and it was fine. In both, they were actual print dresses (not solids). I’m actually a BM in a wedding coming up and the bride wants to do Lily dresses. Unfortunately (and something to keep in mind) they only go up to size 14 and we have one girl in the group who is much larger and that and can’t fit into the dresses. I myself have a large chest and am a street size 10/12, and many Lily dresses I have a hard time fitting into.

We had Lilly Pulitzer cloth napkins at our wedding. They were beautiful and I would have loved to have more of “her” at the wedding. I think BM dresses are a great idea.

charlestonmorgan:  I love the idea of Lilly Pulitzer bridesmaids!  Lilly dresses are so fun and colorful and are structurally really nicely made.  Unfortunately I couldn’t find just the right color (I was looking for a pinky-coral) or print at the deadline I set for myself to tell the girls what we were ordering.  Becaue I couldn’t find a Lilly dress for the girls I think I’ll get them Lilly-print cups, customized with their monograms  (maybe in Serenade?)

Here are some links I found from when I first started thinking about doing Lilly dresses for the girls you might want to look at for inspiration:

Hope this helps!

angela85:  What a great idea!  What print are you using?  Would you mind sharing where you’re ordering them from?
