Did anyone use a limo who could help me out? If we're going to upgrade, we want to do it sooner rather than later to ensure availability of the limo. Thanks!
I didnt use a limo for our wedding but I do know that limo capacity is always stated as more than what it really is! 14 people in a 14 person limo is going to be VERY cozy!!
The company we used to rent a limo suggested going up to the next capacity. For instance we are having 12 people total including the groom and I so the limo company suggested a 14 person limo. It was the same price and will give everyone a little wiggle room.
@clarebee: and @dawnm3513: I was afraid of that! Like I said, I don't want to spend the extra money, but it's a waste of money in general if we're miserable. Limos are supposed to be fun not painful. :)
Thank you for the responses.
We had 18 people (i know i know so many people but I wanted our parents with us!) in a 20 person stretch escalade. And it was still a pretty tight squeeze. Thank goodness most of the bridesmaids were size 4 and under : ) I would say spend the extra cash to be sure you're comfortable.
We had 16 people so we did a 20 person limo. I'm glad we did, because we had some tall guys and it let them have just enough room to be comfortable. We had a stretch escalade, so I'm not sure if the size ranges vary by make of the car. Will your limo company allow you to come and actually look at their fleet? That could give you a better idea.
@Moose1209: Thanks for sharing your experience, that helps!
@bloodgo1: Thanks for the insight. We'd either be getting a 14-person or 16-person stretch Expedition. We did go out to check out the vehicles but were only able to see the 14-person vehicle on that particular day. FI thinks we'll fit. I'm pretty skeptical.
Thanks again for the advice, ladies! We decided to upgrade to a 16-person capacity. My budget isn't too happy about it, but I am. :)
We rented a limo bus, it states that it held 20-24 and 18 was a tight fit.
Luckily I figured as much and only had 18, I would have been horrified if had planned on 24. People would have been on the floor or on each others laps.
Well I'm feeling better about the decision and the extra money spent. Thank you!

What's the rule with limo capacities?
There will be 14 of us total (6 BMs, 6 GMs, bride & groom) riding in the limo during the day for photos, to the ceremony and then to the reception.
Currently, we have a 14-person limo booked, but I'm afraid that the stated capacity isn't necessarily realistic. I know my dress will take up some extra room. Plus, a few of the groomsmen as well as FI and I are tall.
The limo reservations manager said we should be okay and that he's seen it done, but that if we're worried, we might want to upgrade.
Do we need to upgrade to a 16-passenger limo? I'd really prefer not to spend the extra money, but at the same time, if I'm spending $$ on a limo in the first place, I feel like we should all be comfortable.
What have your experiences been in terms of limo capacities?
