I was wondering how the Knot comes up with these awards. Im from NJ and went for my cake tasting and they had the knot award from 2006 until now. The place looked nice and the display cakes looked nice but the cake tasted awful. The cake was extra dry and it tasted stale like it was sitting there for a least a week or more If you know someone is coming for a cake tasting the cake and the flavors should taste amazing. I told them that the cake tasted a little dry and old and all they could say was well we can put a note to make it a little more moist. Im not ordering my cake from there, however I was expecting more since they had all those knot awards. I guess the best way to go is to ask people you know because I dont trust those awards after my experience.

I just spoke with the owner of Salon Salon limo, a 2010 Knot pick and am utterly disturbed by their business practices in my experience. First, I received a quote in response to my quote request on limo.com and I tried to book it via email but was instructed to call the office when I asked for a contract. The one line, greeting and signature free responses to my emails should have been a sign of their lack of professional skills. Upon calling, the first thing I was told was "you know this price is for 4 hours, right?" I clearly didn't as my quote request was for longer than 4 hours. He claimed to have none of the details on my request and explained that the "quote" I got was just an automated response that everyone gets. If that is the case it should not contain prices as several other companies sent a generic message asking when they could call me to discuss detail. I asked him for a quote based on my schedule and this is when he said he didn't have it. Somehow I don't believe this since the first thing he told me was that the price is only for 4 hours and in the conversation he claimed that 98% of all his rentals are for 4 hours.
Ultimately, he put me on hold and gave me a quote. I asked if gratuity and tax are included and he said gratuity was the only thing not included but did not volunteer how much gratuity was. When asked, he said it would be 20% so I asked for the before tax figure to calculate gratuity. He just repeated the same number, I always thought gratuity is calculated on the before tax price of the product or service but he wanted to charge me gratuity on the final price and at $1450, that makes a difference!
They use the whole bait and switch tactic on pricing since my actual quote was almost twice as much as the first "quote" response I received. I don't know how they got the Knot award.
I just wanted to share this experience in case anyone else gets a "quote" from them. All they need to do to improve this deception is to use a more standard standard message. Beyond that, I was uneasy about the gratuity on tax and his general unfriendly manner. This is the 3rd limo company I called and the other 2 were much more helpful.
