Ouch - those prices are crazy. Have you thought about just renting a big, 15-passenger van from a rental car company? As long as you guys won't be drinking during the photo session, maybe the photographer, the groom or one of the groomsmen would be willing to drive everybody? I think a one day rental would only be $150 max. And it might be kind of fun to decorate. :)
Of course you'd have to park it in the city, so maybe it'd be best to ask an uncle or a family friend to drive you guys. That way he/she could just circle and stay with the van while your wedding party takes pictures...
This might not be your style but you could try renting a school bus: that should have a cheaper hourly rate.
You could also take the subway...Gasp I know...but its only2-3 stops from Lechmere to Haymarket or Government Center and the subway pictures could end up being really fun!
I got quotes from half a dozen trolley companies and settled on Beantown Trolley/Brush Hill Tours. They had the best prices I could find (a LOT better than the one you mentioned) and they have more trolleys than the other companies, which increased my comfort level.

If you're not taking photos w/ the trolley or limo, then I think you can take taxis! 12 people can fit in 3-4 cabs, and you don't have to worry about parking in the city. You can also take the T. Aquarium T stop gets you right in front of the Greenway. I've seen some amazing wedding photos w/ taxis and subways!
Thanks for your thoughts everyone! I do think that both the cab and T ideas are def quirky, but, as a frequenter of both the T and cabs, I am a little terrified of being in my wedding dress, and sitting in a cab, or standing on a crowded T. :) We might duck into one of the stations for a few pics if it's not unbearably hot though....it would def make for some fun pictures!!
On a side note, after a TON of research, I did find out about Brewster Coach out of Quincy, and their prices are by far the most reasonable around. Just in case anyone else is looking! :)

Hi all!
I am in need of some local help....we are having our wedding+ceremony at the same location in Cambridge, but are looking to get some sort of transportation to take photos before the wedding. We want to go to the Greenway (yes, by the carousel!!), as well as by the Waterfront (N End/Faneuil Hall area), and need to transport 12 ppl. I'm guessing we'd need 90 min-ish for this, including round-trip timing (our location is right near Lechmere, so not too far at all).
Most limo companies charge a min of 3-4 hrs, and Boston Trolley was $650/hr with a min 2 hr (yikes!!!). Any ideas of places that I could contact? I don't so much mind the 3 hr min, as long as it's not outrageous (then we could even have them transport the parents/grandparents from the hotel to the site).
