I’ve seen a lot of dislike for line dances or organized dances and was wondering if anyone could explain the opinion. Do you like or dislike them and will they be played at your wedding?
Personally, I love them. I think they’re fun and a guaranteed way to fill the dancefloor. Even the friends I have who “can’t” dance will go out for a line dance because they’re easy to learn and do. We will definitely be playing them.
For the record, the ones that are usually done here are “La Antonieta,” “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” “Electric Slide,” “Cha Cha Slide,” “Cupid Shuffle,” and “Copperhead Road.” We’ll also be playing “Dragostei din Tei” or the Numa Numa song. We had it at my quince and it was SO much fun having everyone doing the dance from the video. Loved it.
While I won’t stop them from being played (and if they are, I’ll totally join in), we probably won’t be doing “Soula Boy,” “Wobble,” “Walk like Ronald,” etc. They’re fun, but doesn’t cross generational lines very easily. Also, I’m just not a fan of Hokey Pokey or the Chicken Dance. We will not be doing either of those, nor have I seen anyone else do them at a wedding.
So, what songs will you have or won’t you have? Are you picking and choosing or banning them across the board? Do you like them at other occasions, just not weddings? I’m interested in all opinions.
