I’m buying linens online to save money (I still can’t believe renting is more expensive!) but now I have so many options! My colors are blue, gray, and white, and I’m having a hard time choosing what color to use for what. I’m ordering tablecloths, napkins, and chair sashes.
My question: would it look better to have gray tablecloths with blue napkins and sashes, or blue tablecloths with gray nakins and sashes. I feel that having blue tablecloths would automatically make the room seem more “decorated” than gray tablecloths, but am unsure whether it’ll have the same pop as blue on gray. But a sea of gray tables seems so… blah. LOL
Ugh! I feel like I’m overthinking this but it’s really getting me confused! Help?!
Here are examples of colors:
ETA: Also, it wouldn’t work to have half and half, as the site I’m purchasing from has a minimum of 15, and I only need 14 tablecloths so I’d have 16 extra if I ordered both colors, not worth it!

I like the blue! I think dishes will look nicer on blue too.
Regarding renting vs. buying – I was shocked at that at first too! But really what you’re paying for with renting is the labor. Cleaning, ironing, storing (storing lots of big tablecloths on hangers can take room!), bringing them to the site/coordinating times, putting them on the tables, taking them off at the end of the night and spot cleaning, etc etc. Once I looked at it that way it made more sense. It all depends on how much help you have day-of, if you’re close to your venue, etc.

Agree that the price of buying vs. renting is a little crazy! LOL you are overthinking this, but I have over though every single thing about my wedding so I think it’s normal! I say blue linens with grey napkinds because the sea of grey tables does seem blah as you describe.
P.S. You should add a poll!

@mchitt329: Oh, good idea! I completely spaced it! 🙂

I prefer the gray tablecloths with blue napkins and chair sashes because I think the gray being more subtle will allow the blue to look good, as opposed to the blue being a little overpowering in the tablecloths.

it’s hard to choose. i guess it depends on more that just “what colour”. what does your venue look like? how do you visualize the room? blue table cloths will brighten it up where the grey ones will be more neutral. how much colour “pop” do you want? what theme are you going with?

Being the practical soul that I am, I would use white tablecloths with blue runners , grey sashes and napkins.I think it will be easier to sell the white tablecloths.

try this to play around with combinations before you decide. Hope it helps!

@ItWasntMe: Ohhh, that’s amazing! So helpful!
Now I’ve got another problem… for the first two pictures, you have to imagine sashes instead of chair covers (the site didn’t give the option for sashes, that I saw), but for the last picture, I could buy chair covers in white…

Glad it could help you get a better idea. There is an option for the sashes, and they have a platinum color. I kind of preferred the blue tablecovers, silver sashes and silver napkins option myself! 🙂
