Lingerie shower advice - where to look besides Victoria's Secret?

Has anyone had a lingerie shower or been a guest at one? I am wondering whether I should put together a little "registry" of items I like, or just give guests sizes, or both. If I do choose some items (I feel like I should because many of my guests are really busy and would appreciate not having to search for something), where should I look besides Victoria's Secret? Are there good lingerie places that specialize in bridal stuff?

Any other advice / things to consider that would be different from a regular shower would be much appreciated.

I don't think that I would put together any registry for the event--just pass sizes along to those invited.

Nordstrom has a lot of really nice lingerie. You could also try more of a specialty store near where the event will be.

I always think it's cute to have a clothesline where the different items can be hung up after opening them. It gives guests a chance to see what is gifted.

Someone also told me that you can have guests name the different pieces to create a "menu" for your soon to be husband. We came up with some pretty funny ones for a friend's shower in December.

    Good luck!

I helped thow a lingere shower for my best friend from college, and what we did was put her measurements as an insert in the invite. I think my friends are doing the same for me, and since I prefer stuff that has an underwire, I will put that down as well. I ended up getting her something really beautiful from Nordstrom. I'm not sure if you can register there, but i'm sure that other department stores would let you do it, since wedding registries are pretty mainstream there. But overall, might be best to give some guidelines and let your girls pick out something fun, it turned out really well for my friend - she got a good variety of stuff, from a great robe, to really fancy lingere, to more everyday but super cute stuff!

I would just give guests your sizes and let them buy what they want.  Hopefully, they will give you a receipt so you can return things that aren't your taste.

Well, my immediate answer is Fredericks, or local adult stores. We have a Hustler Hollywood not too far from my house and they have a good mix of "classy" and "trashy".

There are some good online stores as well.

http://www.trashy.com/ Is really good, but can be on the more expensive side.

http://www.agentprovocateur.com/ Also can be kind of expensive.

    Just to name a few.

I agree that you should just give out your sizes and let them pick stuff out.

Thanks for the advice so far. I'm actually surprised to hear that most of you think I shouldn't do a "registry." I definitely have some friends who are into typical girly stuff would have fun choosing lingerie on their own. But older relatives (FMIL, mom, aunt) would probably appreciate some guidance, no? Also, friends who work long hours and don't enjoy shopping would probably use a registry as well.

I would definitely appreciate hearing more opinions.

Personally if my FMIL or anuts were coming to a lingerie shower I would hope they would buy something like a robe because otheriwse whenever I wore it I would know they were the ones that gave it to me.

I'm having a lingerie shower next month, planned by my sister/MOH.  Along with friends, my aunts, mother and 89-year old grandmother will be there.  I'm a little concerned to see how this goes...

@charismaclassic - Yay, I'm glad I'm not the only one. We are only inviting the mothers and an aunt (the rest of the guests are my friends), so at least I won't have to deal with any scandalized grandmothers. Hope your shower goes well!

I have had a great time shopping for sexy things at MACY'S!

yes, believe it or not. Their Jezebel line they carry is right up my alley. I shop there more than VS anymore... Plus they seem to have more "bridal" stuff than VS anymore. Their selection isn't very good I don't think.

Just make sure your girlfriends know your sizes and can pass them along. MAybe they can request that gift receipts are included to ensure a perfect fit! and then you can exchange.

Agent Provocateur if they can afford it. Scandalous, but yummy.

You can actually find some really cute lingerie sets at stores like Ross, Marshalls, or Loehmans. That's probably the main reason I wouldn't do some kind of registry because there are just too many places to buy lingerie.
