why are links being placed in posts, like ebay, groupon, etc? is this part of some weird link back with the new owners? it's just weird.

@BirdofaFeather: Weird. When I hover over your groupon link, it says 'shopping link added by Skimwords.' Must be a new add thing. :-/ Now that you say it, I noticed that ebay was linked when the bees were talking about guests buying random gifts, and that says the same Skimwords thing as well.

ETA- wierd, now your post no longer has a link in it.

I'm apparently not seeing what everyone else is seeing...?

Yeah I've seen it in a few posts and now I see it three times in this thread for "groupon." At first I thought it was a spammy thing, but now I think it's something different, as it's showing up in a LOT of threads.

I googled Skimwords. This is what they are.

    Hi there!

The mods alerted us to the new links from skimwords...we've used skimwords on the site for quite some time (about a year I believe) but they are not supposed to function as they have been lately (with the automatic linking).

How they SHOULD work is if a hivemember ACTUALLY posted a link on her/his own to an item on ebay, then an affiliate code would be generated from that link crediting Weddingbee as "directing" you to that link (if you clicked on it). BUT, skimwords, as a service, also has a functionality that will ADD links, like it has been doing in the past couple days, and we should not have that functionality turned on.

I've requested that it be turned off, and I think it was just a setting error that happened somewhere along the line in the last couple days. You should see things return to normal! Thanks for the heads up!

It just happened to my post on cameras and I was so confused!  Glad to see it's not just me!
