I’m Vietnamese but attended another Vietnamese wedding where they had Lion dancing- I loved it! I was wondering if this is ok for a Vietnamese wedding? We are not Chinese-Vietnamese but I like the idea of lion dancing as symbolizing luck and prosperity for the new marriage. Has anyone had it at their wedding? Was it ok? LiThanks!

My cousin did, but I don’t plan to have lion dances at mine. (Cousin and I are both Southeast Asian Chinese)
The reason why I’m not having one is that we would have to give the troupe a big red packet after their performance. (Enough for at least 8 people) I’m going to have a lot of red packets handy for people who are going to help out with the wedding, as well as for younger/unmarried cousins serving FH and I tea during the tea ceremony.
Lion dances are most common during the lunar new year and during business opening ceremonies for good luck. Very rarely used for weddings; it’s not a necessity…. (My own mother was asking me why my cousin got a lion dance, lol)
