Lipstick Dillema...

posted 5 months ago in Beehive

So here's the story.  I am not the type of person that wears a lot of makeup on a day to day basis.  I wear a super light power foundation, maybe some eyeshadow, occasionally some bronzer or blush.. but hardly ever lipstick or lipgloss.  I am trying to find some nice, natural makeup to wear for the wedding and all wedding-related picture-taking activities.  I found several lipsticks/glosses/pencils at Clinique that I liked, and I decided I could go for a bolder lipstick than I am used to, as long as I accept that everyone thinks it looks nice!  The problem is though, is that most of them were wet/sticky.. which means they would kiss off on FH!  I really don't see that as an option, since I forsee a great deal of public kissing during photos and the wedding/reception.  So.. I need a nice lipstick or gloss that will not kiss off!  Any reccomendations?

Just use a pencil lip liner to fill in your lips completely and clear gloss to add some shine.

I love CoverGirl Outlast. It stays put all day, and sometimes I even wake up with it on.  It definitely won't kiss off...and with the gloss overtop, it's shiny like regular lipstick

Chanel makes an amazing lip color that lasts at least 6 hours -- i've put it on in the afternoon, gone to a movie, and then gone out to eat and it was still on!  It costs about $33.00 -- but it is amazing!  AND it does not dry your lips like the over the counter long lasting lipsticks do!

I love Chanel's line.  If I could justify it, I would only wear their make-up.

I'll have to go check out some Chanel products then.. Is the lipstick alone enough, or do I need lip liner and gloss too?

since you dont use it in your everyday life, i doubt you need to shell out major coin for it.

try L'Oreal Infallible lipstick. there's a coupon in the Sunday paper for L'Oreal every few weeks and most drugstores run pretty decent sales (i stocked up recently on a 'buy one get one free' sale) If you don't find a coupon or sale, I think it will run you $8 or $9.

i tried it in a dark brown and didn't reapply all day....only the chapstick like topcoat. it made it thru my workday (incl lunch) with no problems.

Tip: when you apply it, do not smoosh your lips together! let the product dry on your lips, then apply the topcoat. It says this on the package, and they are serious. smooshing your lips or otherwise messing with the product before it dries leaves a very wierd texture that doesn't look good.

You might also want to try MAC store/counter.  They make a really good long lasting lipstick and there are some good neutral-ish colors.  It's called PROwear lipstick or something like that - they should know what you mean if you ask for the long wear pro lipstick.  And what I've been doing is going around to the counters/stores and trying different brands/colors on for the day to see if I really do like how it lasts/feels after several hours.  I don't want to buy something I'm going to hate day of!
