I used a lip stain for this very reason. Didn’t smudge at all.

Get some lipcote and put it over any lipstick. It stings a bit when you put it on but it us amazing. The lipsticj will stay on you nd not on anything else.

@Almost Mrs.P:  My MUA actually used a MAC lipstick and put some kind of color sealing coating over top, we didn’t have any problems. I can’t remember for the life of me what it was called, but if your MUA is a regular artist for weddings and such I’m sure she does something to make sure that doesn’t happen! 🙂 You could always email her and ask to express your concern, but I’m sure she’s got it covered! 😉

For our engagement shoot I DIYed my makeup and used Revlon Just Bitten and it stayed wonderfully!

Lip stain! I like Revlon’s, the pencil kind.  I have posted this before but it adds nice color without the dry feeling of most stains.  The only drawback is that their collection is kind of limited in colors, but they probably have a red that would work for you.

@Hyperventilate:  Just what I was going to suggest. I used a lip stain and it worked great.

I’m curious as to the answers on this. Because seriously, every single lipstick/stain/gloss/etc I’ve ever tried in my life has worn off in, like, 10 minutes, regardless of whether I kiss/eat/drink or not.

I feel like lipstick is a waste of money and time lol

@kgirl91:  agreed. Another is revlons color stay ultimate suede! I swear I’ve posted about this lipstick in like 19 threads….it’s changed my life (ha!) it goes on soooooo smoothly like a moisturizing lipstick, then sets into a fantastic stain that DOES NOT BUDGE. Sometimes I refresh it with regular Chapstick and it just keeps going; doesn’t crack, doesn’t “pill” up, doesn’t dry up. IT’S FREAKING FANTASTIC!

I’ve been a total lipstick snob for decades, paying up to $50 for high end brands, and it is amazing to me that a $10 tube of lipstick performs so well. I’ve probably got one in every color they make now.

OP TRY IT!!!

Okay, so this definitely isn’t expensive but I’ve just been experimenting with this and I absolutely love the staying power of Covergirl Outlast 24 hr. I did a trial yesterday and put it on at 8:00 AM. At 10:00 PM, with no touch-ups and after eating and drinking all day, it was slightly faded in the very middle of my top and bottom lip, but not noticable unless you were really looking. I had to scrub it off before I went to bed.

@Sweetjennygirl:  I gotta try that!  I actually really like Revlon lip products but I haven’t tried that line of lipstick.

I wore Yves Saint Laurent’s Rouge Pur Couture for my wedding and loved it. I had a cup of a tea, and that took off any teeny bit that would have wound up on my partner. Plenty of photos where I kissed him and not color anywhere. I have it in several shades now and wear them more than any other lip stick or lip stain that I have (at least for now)
