keep your name, he keeps his.

you both change your names to his

you both change your name to yours

you both hyphenate your names

both change your name to something different

you only hyphenate your name, he keeps his

children get your name, or his name.

girl children get your name, boy children get his (weirdest to me, but it works for some)

FYI i didn’t change my name, DH kept his. When we have children they’ll either have both our last names or mine as a second middle name.

I also think its really interesting how they do it in Iceland- they turn the father’s first name into the children’s last name, example:

DH’s name is Mark, a son would be Firstname Markson, and a daughter would be Firstname Marksdottir (daughter). Women don’t change their name apon marriage. I know Bjork’s daughter is Firstname Bjorksdottir Barney (her partner’s name is M Barney).
