  • Wedding: October 2012

My wedding is one week from today, and I just finalized my music this morning! We have a keyboard player for the prelude/ceremony, a solo piano player for the cocktail hour, then a five-piece band for the reception (the cocktail pianist is in the band).

Our selections:

Ceremony: Prelude

Keyboard player’s discretion, but some stuff he will play includes:

  • Here There and Everywhere by the Beatles
  • All I Ask of You – Phantom of the Opera
  • Kei’s Song – David Benoit
  • Some light classical, including Ave Maria and Claire de Lun

Ceremony: Processionals

We do not have a bridal party, just two cute little flower girls and me. So…

  • PROCESSIONAL OF FLOWER GIRLS: “Rainbow Connection”
  • PROCESSIONAL OF THE BRIDE: “Bridge Over Troubled Water”

Ceremony: Recessional

“Wouldn’t It Be Nice?” by the Beach Boys

Reception: Grand Entrances

  • Parents of the bride: “Theme from A Summer Place” (their wedding song in 1960)
  • Mother of the groom: Not sure yet; we are seeing her today and will ask her then.
  • Flower girls, nieces of the bride (ages 6 and 3): “When You Wish Upon a Star”
  • Bride and Groom: “Theme from Peter Gunn”

Reception: Dances

  • First Dance, Bride and Groom: “Edelweiss” (we took waltz lessons, so this will be just us on the dance floor)
  • Immediately after that, the band is going to break into Vince Guaraldi’s “Linus and Lucy,” and our friends will join us on the dance floor for a “dance flash mob.”
  • Then we’ll get serious again and do our parent dances, but we are doing both at once: me with my dad and FI with his mom, to the new standard “Somewhere Over The Rainbow/Wonderful World” by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole

Reception: Other

  • Cake Cutting:  We will leave this up to the band to vamp something.
  • Bouquet toss:  Nixed
  • Garter toss:    Nixed
  • Final song:    Probably “Summer Wind” by Frank Sinatra
