We’re working on finishing up invitations, and are stuck on the RSVP cards. Because we’re incorporating books throughout the wedding, my FI suggested we find quotes that say “yes” or “no” for people to choose. Do you think this will be too confusing? Will people “get” it? Also, does anyone have any suggestions for quotes?

jpr: I’d maybe put the usual ‘will attend’ etc. there as well and the relevant literary quote under each option as well so people don’t get confused? Most will get it but you always get the odd one or two that can’t seem to get just what an RSVP card is, lol.

jpr: I second the suggestion of using the usual ‘accepts with pleasure/declines with regret’ but I love your FI’s idea! I would choose quotes that mean something to you – from your favorites, perhaps.
Conversely, you could choose lines which lend themselves well to an explanatory sentence. Have the quote be in one particular font/all uppercase/etc and the response line below in a different font. For example:
“‘Yes,’ replied Darcy, who could contain himself no longer.” <br />And neither can we! M__(blank for name)___ accept with pleasure. [or your preferred phrasing]
Just an idea 🙂
