Hey ladies! 🙂
I just bought a little black dress and I’m hoping ya’ll can help me with what jewelry should go with it. It is sheer mesh above the bust and the actual neckline comes pretty high up. It is the dress pictured here:
It actually is much cuter in person and for the first time ever I thought to myself “I carry this better at a size 12 than that model does at a size 4”. I’m no good at accessorizing. Should I go with a tiered statement necklace? Or something simple and pretty like my Tiffany’s silver? Or nothing at all? I’ll probably be wearing some patent-leather type basic black pumps.
Any fashionista help is appreciated!

@MissRuthie: When it comes to necklaces I’m super picky about necklines. That dress has a really pretty high neckline so for me personally I would wear some elegant statement earrings and a bracelet only, no necklace.
That dress also screams for some sexy over the top shoes too, other than black.

@MissRuthie: You know, while I can see Treejewel’s point of view, and think that would be a beautiful and classic look, I could also see a statement necklace look fabulous with this dress! But it’s hard to say without seeing it all put together…

@Treejewel19: Hmmm…I can maybe wear my bright pink matte pumps. I chose the black ones for the sake of comfort but I might be able to put up with my fun shoes for the sake of fashion. 🙂
Ugh. I wish my chick friends lived closer!
@pengoala: It is tough for me to put things together without seeing them, too. The dress is just so flat black that I need SOMETHING to add. So I may just buy a couple options to try I guess, along with treejewel’s idea for earrings and bracelet.

@MissRuthie: I saw no necklace and statement earrings and a bracelet and as treejewel suggested some fabulous shoes! I think the illusion neckline should just stand on its own and not be covered up with a necklace. Do you have a charming charlies in your area…..they have tons of afforable accessories!

@MissRuthie: My strategy would be to put the dress on and go to the mall, so I can try things on to see what they look like.

If it were me, I would skip the necklace and do a fabulous pump, in a bright color if you have any. I may throw on a pair of substantial stud earrings as well, just big enough that you wouldn’t wear during an average day. If you don’t go with a statement shoe then I would suggest hair up with a nice dangle earring. Just my take 🙂

I would not wear a necklace with that dress. I think it’s too high cut. If it were me, I would wear gold bangles and some kind of gold earrings.
