I totally forgot postage! It's small, but when the wedding budget is, too, it adds up!
I forgot stamps in my budget. When you think about it those add up. Stamps for Save the Dates, The invtation's outer envelope and the RSVP return envelope and then stamps for thank you cards. I spent close to $800 on stamps and probably will need more for thank you cards because I only bought enough for 100 thank you cards but I forgot that I needed thank you cards for all the shower gifts and wedding gifts. So some people may give you a gift at the shower and wedding.
I forgot having to figure out how to decorate the buffet table. I just saw a post about it yesterday, so they helped me out.
Another undersight on the budget for me was dress alterations. I thought I just needed it bustled and hemmed. So I put down $150. Well I lost 3 inches in my chest area and 2 inches in my waistline. So my dress alterations ended up costing $895 because they had to re-do the boning inside the dress and add cups to help my size Bs look better ;)
Something I never thought about were all the random songs needed for the reception:
Entrance Song
Cake Cutting
Garter Toss
Bouquet Toss
Dance for the people who catch the garter/bouquet
Last song
I feel like there were more. I was like "do we really need a particular song for this?!"
i forgot about yarmulkes and the ketubah, and ketubah framing. when you look at lists online and in books, they leave out religious and cultural things like that.
I did the same thing, I put every detail I could possible think of. And I did one list for 'us' and another one for just my expenses. The thing that (so far) I forgot was stamps for the response cards (duh). And for me, I forgot to add getting my hair done. Usually I don't have to think about adding that to my budget so it didn't occur to me but when money is tight, you should add everything, even getting your nails done.
At first I forgot:
1. Tips for venders (hair/makeup artist ect...)
2. Lunch for wedding day (i bought lunch for my wedding party - our wedding was at 6 p.m.)
3. Parking!! I wanted to cover the parking cost for my wedding party & immediate family ($14 per car- good for the duration of their stay at the hotel venue)
If you would like a copy of my wedding spreadsheet, I had two checklists and a very detailed budget sheet in there!
It wasn't so much the things I forgot to put on the to-do list...it was more the stuff we forgot to bring to the church the day of that we had to improvise on. Like hankercheifs...I'm Orthodox, and I wanted my grandfather's hankerchiefs to hold our crowns over our heads and we totally forgot them. I had to borrow some from some of our guests.
So just make sure you make a list of the things you'll need on your wedding day. Don't skimp on anything b/c you think it's silly - just make a list of absolutely everything you might need! It will absolutely help when the day comes, and you won't forget anything that way!
Thank you everyone!! These are some great ones, and definitely a few I forgot about!
For our wedding day, we forgot:
A copy of our invitation for our photographer to take pix of at the venue
OUR MARRIAGE LICENSE. Omg. Sheer panic.
A list of "must have" photos for our photog (certain details that she didn't know about, etc.)
A list of how got which ties, bouts, etc. (I wasn't around when the boys were getting ready and my dad ended up wearing the same tie as the groomsmen although I had a special one made for him)
Tips for vendors
Instructions for my DOC on where every details was supposed to be placed (e.g., our chalkboard menu that my father made should have been placed outside in the patio area rather than the barrel room)
And I forgot to put my sash on for the reception and to bustle my dress after the ceremony (I didn't end up bustling until after our first dance and dinner was over. lol).
@mkendrick - I've had more nightmares about forgetting the marriage license than anything else wedding related! It happens about every 2-3 weeks.
I recently remembered that I need to feed some of the vendors- only the phot/video guys, dj, priest; ones that will be there most of the time
Someone I knew forgot place cards a few days before wedding but did them right away on time, I keep forgetting we have to book a hotel room for the night of wedding too, not sure if we want a suite or a regular room. Still need to get sexy lingerie too
@Mighty- I think you might regret offering that. If I PM you can I have it too? :)
Hey ladies. MightySapphire sent me her spreadsheet and it is really, really amazing. I highly recommend it.
@Mighty Could I have a copy too or is somebody else who got one willing to send me it?
This post has been super helpful, I keep forgetting about the hotel room the night of the wedding too and including hair and make-up in my budget.
@Mighty, I'll send you a PM, I'd love a copy of your spreadsheet. Thanks for your generosity in sharing!

I am making lists upon lists of to-dos... and detailed budget sheets.
Are there any small things you almost forgot to put in the budget or on your to-do list?
I'm so afraid I'm forgetting something!
