Hey hive, I need some advice. Mr. Tal and I are not happy with our current choice of centerpieces, they are too small and do little to the decor. Our tables seat eight at our reception hall and we aren't having place settings or favors at the tables, so we have some room to fill to make it not feel so bare. So we have an idea to use live trees (that will be planted at various relatives houses after the wedding) with hanging votive lanterns and perhaps a votive or two surrounding the potted tree. Plus we're having some travel board games sitting at the table for the guests to play before we arrive or if they don't feel like dancing, which we think will fill the table nicely without being too cramped. Is this a crazy idea or does it seem workable?

And if anyone has seen a picture of this being done please link it or upload it I want to get a good visual! Thanks

Sounds interesting but I think I'd have to see a picture before I vote.

I have been searching the internet for hours trying to find something similar, the closest thing I can find is a picture of branches in a vase with candles, something like this:

I'm hoping to find something closer to my idea, but no luck yet!

I found a link to something very similar to what i'm going for here:

Just a live tree, with leaves...sigh, I wish I could find something better to give an idea.

I like it. I think it could work. My only concern would be if it has leaves, are your guests sitting across from each other going to be able to see/talk to each other?

@ tessabella: I'm *hoping* the tree branches will be high enough that they will be above the guests heads, we have to do the research and find the right height but I'll take that into account for sure! Thanks tessabella!

They're pretty, but if they're too big, they're going to block people from socializing across the table, which is a pain.

I agree with thePinkSuperhero...if they are too big, they will inhibit socialization.  But otherwise, what a fantastic idea!
