Thought this might be a place to get some ideas. I am being flown out to Vegas next week for a final job interview and wanted to hear what it is like to live out there.
FI and I are outdoorsy and not big partiers(we like to go out and have a good beer or glass of wine, but not into the whole night life scene).
I am coming from Orlando,FL and have never been too big into the whole master planned community approach, etc. so not sure how well of a fit it would be.
Thoughts, ideas? I was looking at Henderson and Boulder City…

This is not helpful at all lol, but I would LOVE to move to the Vegas area one day, so I am looking forward to hearing some responses!

If your going to be working in Las Vegas I wouldn’t reccomend Boulder City the drive will be so far. Henderson maybe – but it depends where your going to work. Vegas is an awesome place to live with so much to do. You’ll enjoy it here.

I live in and grew up in Henderson. If you don’t like the idea of the master planned community approach, maybe you can consider living in one of those midrise/high rise condos. I lived in a midrise before and the amenities are great. We now live in a home in a masterplanned community in Henderson and love it. There are also plenty of homes that are not part of a big masterplanned community.
Boulder City is awesome but definitely a drive if you work in the city.
Best of luck!

Yes, I love Green Valley Ranch in Henderson, but it’s totally a master planned community. They have amazing running paths throughout all of it though, which is nice. Summerlin is on the other side of town, also master planned, and is closer to the mountains if you’re outdoorsy.
The older parts of Vegas – the scotch 80s and such- are much cooler without the master planned community to it at all, so that may interest you. Not much for the outdoorsy areas though.
My inlaws live in Boulder City and it is FAR in Vegas terms (everything else is 20 minutes from the strip; the city is built around it)! They spend so much on gas each week as they both work in Vegas; I couldn’t even imagine. However, they absolutely love being away from the hubbub of the city and living there with that small town feel. It’s nice to visit, but I don’t think I could ever live out there.
Good luck with your job interview and move!
