*sigh* oh I love my husband lol
I will say that I am basically the cook of the house, like 95+% of what gets done is by me. My dh grew up in an italian household where mom did ALL the cooking so its not that he doesnt want to, he just doesnt know how! He makes salad (which to them is just lettuce, oil, vinegar and salt), scrambled eggs, and chicken breast (thats usually seasoned with just one lonely spice LOL.
So……. today I emailed him to ask if he had made a plan for tonight and if not I had a few ideas of where we could order take out from we havent tried yet. (probably wont get a table anywhere)…he replies back with “how bout I go to the grocery store, pickup some potatos and asparagus and I attempt to make a meal? Chicken, asparagus, potatos and red wine?”
LMAO…… I just about died…. laughing…….I was actually crying I was laughing so hard (If you knew my DH you’d know why)
I of course like a good wife said “sure Im down if you wanna have a go at it” but I’ll be honest with you ladies… I was kinda hoping for something with a little more luster and taste then something we can have on a monday night :s …… I love love love that he’s being so sweet lol, but this is going to be the worst meal I’ve eatin in a while hahahahahahaha….
I did send him a “your so cute baby, what kinda chicken are you gonna make?”. This was me trying to be subtle that “what other kind of chicken are you going to make rather then the only kind you know how?” lol
*sigh* wish me luck ladies 🙂

Aw! Hahaha. This is really cute though. Maybe offer to make “first” with a good hearty pasta. Just incase you don’t like it ? My husband only knows how to grill or prep food. That’s it. Him and his family are from Italy. So I get you in that aspect! Haha.
I love salad with oil vinegar! Sometimes we add lemon. His mom loads on the salt but I skip it.

LOL yeah when I met my husband he was cokoing chicken on an old george forman and eating it with white rice. Sometimes he mixed things up and made scrambled eggs. Him cooking a meal for me would be incredibly sweet, but would be a special type of punishment lol. Although at least now he can manage to make spaghetti and actually BAKE chicken breast’s or pork chops.

@shanbp: FI’s cooking skills are about the same as your DH’s. So for Valentine’s Day, he wanted to go out, but I told him we should save money and that I’d cook. Then, he wanted to cook, so I said ok and told him I’d be his “helper.” This means I chose all the courses and will most likely take over and let him chop some vegetables and stuff. I appreciate that he wants to help, but I want a delicious meal!

lol cahmonnn thats adorable! so very very sweet of him to offer. Its the thought and the love that counts!
Maybe you should bring some kind of fun appetizer to the table?!
That way it can be jazzy and then your main can be meh.
OR you suggets he get a creative sauce to go with?
Its definitely sweet regardless – Enjoy!

@shanbp: better have the local pizza guy in speed dial! 🙂
ETA: I can commiserate. My DH wanted to make breakfast for me one sunday but we didnt have time soHe’s all up in the kitchen, doing who knows what, it’s smoking and I can see he’s having trouble. I go over and he hands me a plate with the french toast on it– but I dont see any seasonings (cinnamon? nutmeg?) I ask him and he says “its on there, look!” I look a little closer. There’s something on there alright– CUMIN. 😐

Aw, that’s sweet. He is really trying with this one. I should know, I cannot cook much and having a chef for a husband, I usually let him take over in the kitchen.

@BellaDee: hahaha ya I add lemon too!!! I was thinking of directing him to some cheese tortollili we have as the “first” just in case….all he has to do is boil it and put some olive oil and parm on it!
@MsJ2theZ: LMAOLMAOLMAOLMAO…… Im rolling because thats EXACTLY HOW HE IS GOING TO COOK THIS CHICKEN…. on his dingy old george foreman he’s had since his single days hahahahahahaha.
you guys are right, I was thinking of doing an appie, or like I said above see if he can boil some pasta lol… He said I will need to be his helper so thank god for that… but mostly verbal direction I think.
@1stRosie: lol omg thats hilarious!! and so something my DH would do. Thats so cute
Thanks ladies, I know its going to be memorable no matter what and I love he’s doing this for me lol. I will post pics of what ends up getting created 😀

Aw! Super cute, sounds like he’s trying to be romantic and make you a lovely [or not so lovely!] meal!

@shanbp: Oh dear… LOL!
I should add that it didn’t have a proper grease catcher so he used a corn tray… which who even owns special trays to hold corn!?

@MsJ2theZ: LOL, I think my mom did at sone point

He doesn’t even have a chicken parm recipie under his belt? I feel like every guy I’ve ever known has had chicken parm as his go to impress someone meal.
It’s done to varying degress of success, but it for some reason seems like every guy I know’s “Let me cook for you!” meal.

Lol, FI can basically make me pizza rolls, so you’re still winning in my book 🙂
