So we are in the process of planning our honeymoon and originally we were all about an all inclusive.. THis weekend we were discussing it and the idea of going to London came up.. the more I think about it the more sense it makes because my FI gets bored sitting on the beach doing nothing. He would be fine for a day or two but then he would start getting antsy..
I’m worried about the cost though. I found a package on expedia that would be about $3500 for the 2 of us for 9 nights inclusive of round trip airfare. Do you think budgeting for about $6k would be reasonable for this honeymoon including food, currency exchange, excursions, and just spending money..
We’ve both never been, so we are just thinking out loud and researching right now..

@FinallyAlmostMrs: That’s a pretty good deal, especially for summertime travel. $6K would definitely be enough without having to deal with too small of a budget. $660 per day should be plenty for food and spending money.
Even if you mean subtracting the $3500 package from the $6K, you would still have $277 per day. There are tons of free museums in London so it’s still very doable. Personally, my only qualm is that 9 days is a lot to spend only in London. Why not book your own flights a month or two later to get a better deal and then split the time between London and Paris?

@FinallyAlmostMrs: I might be able to help…..
Take a look at http://www.classicvacations.com/ and let me know if there is anything you like in budget there. I can get you 10% off on that site, or 10% off standalone hotel bookings on Expedia 🙂
Oh, and I live in London so let me know if you want any tips/hints on areas!
9 days in London itself might be a lot, but the brilliant thing of living in such a small country is that you have some amazing things to see and do only a couple of hours drive or train journey away 🙂

I’ve been to london twice. And the piece of advice I can give is that it’s really expensive. Sighseeing is on average cost so not that expensive but souvenirs,shopping,underground and bus tickets, food and shows are a bit expensive so make sure you book all of your sights and get tickets in advance!

I’m going to London for part of my honeymoon too! I’m not sure where you’re staying but we used airbnb to book a studio apartment to stay in…I think the prices are much better than staying at a hotel…and you get more space/amenities too.
