My fiance and I used to live in London – in fact, it’s where we met! We’re both American and are having our wedding in our new hometown of Austin. But, we want to have a reception in London for our friends who can’t make the trip over to Texas.
But, I’m a bit stumped when it comes to searching for reception locations in London. Any party we’ve held before in London was super casual and held in the upstairs room of the Lamb on Lambs Conduit Street. I’d rather have someplace a bit more upscale then a pub, though.
Most of our friends live in North London, so I was thinking of somewhere in Central London or North London, zone 2-ish. We both went to UCL, so maybe someplace in that area?
Any ideas? I’m not even sure where to start!

That sounds like a great plan, my friends did something similar as they’re based in South Africa. They said is was awesome since it felt like they got married twice!
How big a place are you looking for? And are you wanting somewhere for a sit down or just for a party with a buffet or something?

I’m thinking somewhere we can have a fun cocktail party. We don’t want to spend a ton of money on this party, as we’re having a huge wedding in the U.S. I’ve seen some restaurants/pubs around Kentish Town, and recently thought of the Old Crown, a swishy bar-type place on New Oxford Street.
I’m so excited about this party! I keep joking that it’s the tiny wedding I’ve always dreamed of. (Can you tell that planning is stressing me out?) Mainly, I’m excited to wear my wedding dress twice! Most people don’t have that luxury.

Hey TexicanMexican, I’m living in texas right now and planning my wedding in London…so i can relate! We’re having our "out of town pub party" the night before the wedding at a "gastro-pub" called The Metropolitan on the Great Western Road: http://trustedplaces.com/review/uk/london/bar-pub/1p0528/the-metropolitan-bar I haven’t been there yet, but it’s gotten great reviews. And the prices are pretty reasonable.
If you need a planner, DEFINITELy contact Lisa Bevan at White Tulips. She freakin rocks. I dont’ know what I would do without her!
