Mia Sposa in Hatton Garden, London. I didn’t much rate their customer service etc but I do remember their sale rack with samples to take as they are, maybe give them a call and see if they have samples to take away on the day and go have a look?

Bridal Outlet in Orpington. All off the rack. She can see if there are any dresses she likes prior to visiting as they’re all online. No appointment needed either

Okay, your options are high street, online or sample/used gowns.

High street bridal lines includes Topshop, Dorothy Perkins, Monsoon, Whistles, Chi Chi London and Phase Eight.

Online stores that do bridal include ASOS (free next day delivery and returns = big bonus), Needle and Thread and boohoo.com. You could also try BHLDN and Kitty & Dulcie.

Alternately, try a bridal shop that specialises in ex sample or used gowns. Ellie Sanderson Outlet would be a great option for your friend! You could also try a place like Bijoutique or Atelier Bride. Some bridal boutiques even sell their ex sample dresses online – try https://www.thecotswoldfrockshop.co.uk/sale or http://www.beasbridalshop.co.uk/.

Edit: Forgot to add, try Still White for pre-owned, or even a dress renting service!

I just got my dress from a chain called Wed2b. All the dresses are priced below £700 (there’s some really lovely stuff in there though so don’t worry about it being cheap quality) and off the rack. Just had a quick look and your closest one is Swindon or Milton Keynes – closer than London I think?

Harrods. When you say it needs to be off the peg, I’m not sure if you mean it needs to be high street prices, but Harrods evening gown section has stunning gowns that fit like normal clothes, which I don’t think conventional wedding dresses do.

If you look online there are some gorgeous gowns in white, cream and pale peach – some are obviously very expensive but many are still less than you’d pay for a wedding dress – for example,  there’s a gorgeous cream and diamanté gown for £1,300.

If that’s too pricey, the Ghost gown collection at Debenhams will have what she needs 🙂

charlllpop :  How was your experience with Wed2B? I love a few of the dresses on their website and am considering visiting. Was the service good? Were the dresses as nice as they seem online?

Can your friend try eBay for her dress? I very nearly bought my exact dress from an eBay seller in London but my Mum persueded me to buy the same dress brand new.

I’m actually thinking of selling mine on ebay for another bride to wear (wedding was Aug 2015)

Pretty much every bridal store will have a sample sale rack that you can buy the dress there and then.  If she wants a new gown though it might be worth seeing if there is a Essense Of Australia/Stella York/Martina Liana stockist in the area as they will have access to an online inventory of any dresses available for immediate dispatch 🙂 Additionally you would just about still be in the time frame to order a quick delivery gown from Mori Lee, they only have a handful of selected styles though!

I agree with PP If ‘off the peg’ doesn’t necessarilly mean ‘high street budget,’ I’ve saw some Jenny Packham bridal gowns in Harrods marked as an evening gown and places like Selfridges have some beautiful dresses (expensive though.)

Personally I really like some of the Ted Baker bridal stuff (but I like Ted Baker everything.)

Alternativly it’s always looking on sites like Preloved.co.uk if the dress having been used isn’t an issue, there seem to be a large number of London area based sellers on those websites.

Also suggest Grace Loves Lace – they have some lovely dresses and might be able to knock something out for her quick!

snookpower :  I’m so sorry I didn’t reply to you! I’ve not been on here in a while. If you’re still looking then I couldn’t recommend Wed2b any more highly. I visited the Nottingham store and it was lovely, it didn’t have a downmarket or budget feel at all. The ladies working there were really friendly, helpful and seemed to take a genuine interest. The dresses all felt high quality for the price and I ended up getting one for a steal. The only slight criticism I’d have is that perhaps the range I saw could have been wider although I’m having a beach wedding so that cut my options right down…if you were looking for a “traditional” wedding dress there would be plenty for you. There was a good long rail full of dresses for each size though.
