I lived in Meath county for a summer, and fell in love with Ireland. I would suggest getting out of Dublin as much as possible, because it is like any other big city, and can be very expensive(Guinness in a touristy area cost a approx. 6euro=$9) . A few of the touristy sites I really enjoyed were:
Cliffs of Moher, Newgrange, Christ Church, and of course the Guinness tour
But my most enjoyable times in Ireland were traveling in between the smaller towns enjoying the local pubs. They have a decent train system so you do not have to worry about driving. Sometimes I would just hope on a train and get off at random stops to explore. The country side is indescribably beautiful, and it would be a shame to miss it.

FI and I just booked our honeymoon flights, and we're so excited! We'll be flying into London and out of Dublin 16 days later. We haven't booked hotels or anything just yet, and are looking forward to just making our way up to Liverpool via train and taking a ferry over to Dublin. We'd like to rent a car in Ireland and do some driving and sight-seeing, but aren't sure if we want to venture too far out of Dublin and spend the whole time driving.
Are there any hotel/B&B/ castle recommendations from the hive? Thanks!
