Have you/your bm looked into good quality concealer makeup for the birthmark? There are a lot of really good products out there that do an amazing job at covering up severe discolouration and scars. Prehaps she could speak to her doctor? They should be able to send her in the right direction
Personally though, I don't think it would be a big deal about the bms wearing longer dresses than the bride - especially if there's good reason for the bm's to be wearing full length gowns. Some people might not think it looks right, but believe me, your photos will look so much better with happy, confident bridesmaids than awkward insecure ones!
What about tea length dresses for the BMs? Tea length will go below the knee and fit with your style. Especially if you have a mid calf dress with lots of vintage volume like puictured, I don't think it would look odd for BMs to have a dress that falls between the knee and ankle. I can't imagine floor length going with your dress too well but below the kneee would be fine. Maybe you could let them get a long dress and hem it to a point that makes them happy as long as they are on the same page.
depending on the style of bridesmaid dress, you could get shorter dresses and have them wear stockings/pantyhose, dark enough to hide the birthmark, and more formal than leggings or tights :)
Thank you so much!!
I agree, comfortable bridesmaids is the most important thing. I'm all for fancy stockings, I think that will look great.
I also like the make up idea, I'll see what she thinks.

Hello Wedding Bee-ers!
This is my first post here, but I am a long time reader so I hope I'm doing it right.
My dilemma: I'm going for a short wedding dress (below knee/calf length), something similar to this: http://vintagepatterns.wikia.com/wiki/Advance_101 - but I have two bridesmaids who both have hangups about their legs.
One has a huge, very dark birthmark on her shin and will only wear a short dress with tights. The other won't wear above the knee and doesn't want to wear leggings or tights because she sees them as too informal and doesn't want to feel less dressed up than her cousins who are attending.
Because I have only two bridesmaids I don't think it would work if they had different length dresses - that seems to work great with a few bridesmaids but is 2 too few??
I suppose my ideal is to find another wedding where the bridesmaids wore long dresses while the bride wore short and made it work - or will I be the first??
Thanks for your help in advance!
Christina :)
