I'd love to hear from some ladies who have had crazy long cycles (more than 40 days) to know what your fertility signs were like.

Did your temps stay low the whole time and then just go up for the last 2 weeks of the very long cycle, or did you experience periods of high temps followed by low, and back up and down?

Did you have any other symptoms (cramping, etc?)

I'm on CD 37 and feeling a bit frustrated. I'm going to try to attach my chart (note that there are a few days where I didn't take my temp Aug 13-15.Long cycles and fertility signs? /chart help : wedding charting long cycles ttc 3

I used to have really long cycles!   I think you ovulated 5 days later than what Ovusoft has predicted.  It's so hard to figure it out with just temperatures alone.  I wish I still had my old charts, but I think mine bounced all around, and then finally, I would see my shift.   What settings do you have the software on?   I would do temperature only, if may be looking for your cervical fluid settings too.

eta- That drop after your temp went up is called a fallback temperature.   Some people think they could be a sign of implantation, but don't focus on that since it often is just a fluke.

Thanks so much! (Though I am a bit frustrated that I have to wait so long for the end of my cycle still).

I looked into my settings and I have it only on temps (since I'm really really bad at checking CM), but I think what was throwing it off was the 'rule of thumb' option.  I took that off, and now here is my new chart.  More in line with what you are saying.

Man, this is the longest TWW ever! (originally thought I O'd a long time ago).

I actually would even guess O happened a day before the software guessed it at.  Put a note where the rule of thumb was, just in case you want to look back at it.

    How frustrating for you!

@MapleBecky:  Thanks so much for your help; knowledge eases the frustration. (Way better than POAS for the next 2 weeks!)

I have long, irregular cycles. I started charting long before we started TTC. I'm going to try to show you my longest cycle, where I didn't O until cd43! Stress really affects my O'ing and this was an extremely stressful 2 months for me. You will notice that my temps jumped around a little bit (much more than yours!) but stayed in the lower range until after I O'ed. I also notice that my temps are much more all over the place when I'm stressed as well. Oh well, good news, the cycle after this I O'ed on cd23 and we got pregnant on the first try :) I agree more with your second chart, where you O'ed later, though I'd guess more like cd23 myself. Anyway, hope this helps!!

Are you just off the pilll?    I found that I took vitex (herb) and it helped and vitamin B complex helped me the most.   Sometimes it just takes time and it will settle too, my crazy cycles were back when I first started charting and was with my ex.  (Not saying you have stress, but it did definitely get better.   My cycles are 31 days now.)

@cvbee::( Bummer. i have crazy long cycles, too. I used to love it because it meant less periods, but now it means less chances to try for a baby.

And... lots of frustration with my chart and what-not.

I agree with MapleBecky and think that the second chart is more accurate.

I started using OPKs because the temp alone on such a long cycle was driving me batty. OPK + on CD 27 and 28, which ended up with O on CD 28-29.

Like AvantLaLettre, my temps also jump around a little more than yours, and they jump around worse with stress. I went to the ER and my temps were wild for 4 days and freaked that I O'd at the ER when they had to do an x-ray. Turns out--no--just stress.

    Good luck!

@AvantLaLettre:  Thanks so much for posting your chart and looking at mine.

@MapleBecky and @PasteMoo: I always think of myself as a person who is pretty good about stress, but I think that first temp spike could have been because I was anxious about TTC and was 'expecting' to O then....plus it was our anniversary.  I didn't 'feel' stressed, but maybe I'm in stress-denial.        And the more recent pre-O higher temps DID co-incide with me getting a call for an interview, and then being worried about the interview (yes, I'll admit I was stressed about that---so stressed that I got heartburn, which made me think I was pregnant).  I guess after finding out that I didn't get the job I was finally un-stressed enough to O!    And, yes, I am fairly recently off the pill...this is my 4th cycle off. And I have been using B-complex.

    Thanks for the help Bees!

@cvbee: I'm just stalking your cycle chart and WOW - your temps are so calm! Mine are all over the shot - which makes it hard to pinpoint when things are happening. I've been doing it for months and months now and they're always erratic - maybe it's just me?

Either way, it looks like you can read yours well. Hanging out for some good news over the next few months! :) x

    @jaguar:  Thanks!

Ha, I actually thought that maybe I had a faulty thermometer or something, having the exact same temp for 20 days straight!  Near the 20 day mark, I temped in the middle of the day to see if it was capable of producing other temps....which it was.   But that even temp thing also made me think that I O'd when I finally saw a shift on day 21.  Tricked me!

I find that always waking up at the exact same time helps me to keep things even, and no drinking.  The first 'tricky' temp shift coincided with our anniversary celebration weekend: sparkling wine and sleeping in all weekend (but still set my alarm and temped on time); now I know better how to interpret the effects of those types of events.

Chart calmness and baby dust to you!

@cvbee: How cool is that? Exactly the same temp - wow. I set mine to my alarm clock (7am every morning) and it doesn't matter how regular I take it, my temps are off the charts! :)
