Does anyone have experience with long distance premarital counseling? FI lives near Boston, I live in south-central PA and it will probably remain that way until close to the wedding. Premarital counseling is extremely important for me; I believe that it’s crucial to prepare for a marriage and not just a wedding during engagement.
Also, I would prefer more secular or not overly in-your-face Christian counseling. I want the counseling to be more about marriage prep than my discrepancies with Christianity or the traditional roles of male and female. FI and I have discussed at length our religious differences and are comfortable with them and how they apply to future kids.
A little background on the LDR:
We dated in the same city for 6 months
Did a year and 4 months long distance due to college
Lived together for a year and 9 months while finishing up college
Got amazing starting job offers, both graduated, and got engaged
We do not see the point in one of us sacrificing a great job opportunity that would kick off our careers so we are planning for one of us to transfer to the other’s location after getting about a year of experience to jumpstart a career
