That is adorable! really really adroable!
there are actually a few threads (even one I started) that have tips for long distance relationships!
ooh ring shopping was so much fun when i went! the boy and i are long distance as well and utilize skype for video chats all the time. we also watch movies together on our laptops and chat on im during them. we also like to send each other little gifts/cards, often unexpectantly. i tend to make stuff for him, which he always enjoys.
have you considered maybe getting on the same cell phone network? since we're both on the same one we can call each other without worrying about the minutes.
stroll through the other ldr themed topics on the board. there have been a few of them with some very helpful suggestions and ideas. good luck!
Thanks girls! We definitely need to change cell phone providers (he is going to do so in the next week or two).
that's a really cute idea! i was also going to suggest changing cell phone providers. my fiance and I were long distance and in the beginning, we had different cell phone providers... our bill that first month was ridiculous, so he changed his plan to mine.
one thing we did was weekly bible studies over the phone. a similar thing you can do is go through a relationship book together. i think that would be a good way to keep the communication going and understand each other a little bit better
Hello! I feel you on the long distance relationship - for almost 4 years my fiance and I have been dealing with a VERY long distance - him in Sweden, me in California. I spetn a year there, him a year here, but the times inbetween, sadly - apart.
We always sent each other snail mail and little care packages. Seems silly to send snail mail these days, but I can't tell you how much I LOVED getting envelopes in the mailbox that weren't bills or junk mail, but sweet happy letters from my man.
When you can't be with each other holding hands in an instant, warm fuzzy letters are definately helpful - and it's something different from the email and internet stuff.

Hello ladies!
I'm new to the site and awaiting my proposal. My guy just recently took me to "look at rings" but suprised me by purchasing one that I have been looking at for some time.
He lives about five hours away right now and the cell phone bills are ASTRONOMICAL, so we started having Skype dates.
He called me on Skype the other day. He was dressed up, sitting at a candlelight table, and eating pasta. He had my favorite food (lasagna) delivered to my home along with a movie, which we watched together while on line.
I thought that was so sweet and creative!
Any other ideas for how to keep the romance alive without our bank accounts taking a huge hit?
