I think the long dress will be just fine! Especially if your FI is wearing a suit and the groomsmen are wearing ties. Go for it! Always better to be overdressed than underdressed! And who cares anyway...you're the bride! :)
I think a lot can depend on the dress. Do you have a picture or link you could share?
A long, lightweight dress in a more casual material like cotton can be perfectly informal, while a floor length satin number encrusted in jewels might be more suited for the red carpet than a rehearsal dinner. :)
I cant find the dress I saw yesterday but it something like this. http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=355174&CategoryID=22122
I think that's beautiful, and it's perfectly appropriate for a restaurant where your groom is in a suit! The jersey-ish material keeps it from being too formal or too casual. I say go fo it!
Go for it. You are the BRIDE after all. I don't think i have ever heard of an occasion where a bride was overdressed -- maybe underdressed (think Pam Andersen

I really wanted a cute white dress for the rehersal dinner but I'm not finding anything that I really love. I did however find a beautiful yellow dress but it is full length. Would it be wierd if I wore a long dress? Is that too fancy? Our rehersal dinner will be at a resturant, my FI will probably wear a suit and the groomsmen will wear shirts and ties. I just have an irrational fear of being overdressed (no matter where I go). Please help!
