I got engaged February 2012, and we set the wedding for spring of 2013, but due to the military we pushed it back a year til Spring 2014. I’m still really excited but it seems as if the “engagement excitement” is gone. Anyone else experience this?

Yeah, I went on deployment as soon as we got engaged, and we had to change our wedding date 4 times (each with a signed contract) due to his deployments changing multiple times. It was really tough. We ended up eloping, and now we’re planning a “wedding celebration.”

@Mrschesin: We did a courthouse wedding In May 2012, big wedding this October. Military life is crazy like that. Sometimes I feel like I’m just planning a “show” since we’ve already been married for more than a year, but no one else feels that way. Family and friends are all super excited so that kind of rubs off!

When we have our wedding we will have been engaged almost 2 years (Married 10.5 months).. We kept having to push back the date, then he got orders to England for 3 years. So we ended up getting married, so I could go with him. I know what you mean by the engagement excitement being gone. Very few people know we are already married, but I am still feeling in this slump of inbetween being engaged and married. I wish I could figure out a way to get hyped up about it again!

glad to hear I’m not the only one! Yes we moved the wedding 4 times as well. 4 contracts, luckily no one charged us to do this. Yea its hard to get the engagement spirit back up, but it definately helps me to know other bees are experiencing the same thing. Wishing you all the best! Thank you for responding!

@Mrschesin: I am sorry military caused a push back and that the excitement seems to be fading but I promise that once you start putting planning in full swing again that you will be wrapped back up in the fun!
