Yey there is two of us!!! I am newly engaged and although I have been in the area (East Meadow) off and on for a while I dont know it that well as my home town is in Jolly Olde England. We have just had our meeting with the priest so we know our church now. But thats it-I know of nothing else. Have to start looking at reception sites very soon as we have a tight schedule. We are hoping for next summer. Will need advice nearer the time RE: hairdresses and florists etc. Actually could do with a recommended hairdresser at the moment. My fiance goes to a barber so he's no help unless I want a short back and sides.....
Our wedding is in September... I've done tons of research! I'm more than happy to help! Let me know what you need and I'll try to help! ![]()
Long Island Bride here! I live in Atlanta, grew up in Queens and I am getting married at Land's End in April. I'm looking for a good hairdresser too!
I'm not a long island bride (getting married in Philly) but I grew up on LI- good luck to all of you!
I'm using Ai Sakai for hair and makeup. She's great and very reasonable. You can find her on info on wiki.
Anyone still checking this thread? I grew up on LI, currently live in Brooklyn, and am getting married on LI in May. I'm another Land's End bride! So far they have been WONDERFUL to work with.
I'm geting married at Westbury Manor. They have been amazing. Still have a lot to do though. Any recommendatiosn on flowers and hairdressers??
i made the mistke of singning up for LIweddings, and I get TONS of emails and even PHONE CALLS! Don;t give them your real number if you want to avoid being harrassed.
I was a LI bride in March! =) Was married at the Fox Hollow, used Pastor April as Officiant, used Sachiko for Hair/Makeup, Sissi Chan for BM's Hair, Used Designs by Rose as my florist, Dynasty Weddings for my DJ/MC services....think I may have covered it all...
I'm getting married at The Carltun in Eisenhower Park in November 2008! I am using Creative Compositions for photography and videography, Richie Hart for DJ/music, and Pedastals for flowers.
I grew up in Great Neck (Nassau County) and currently live in Bayside (Queens) so feel free to ask questions if I can help!!
I grew up in LI and am getting married at East Wind in May, but am currently living in the city so I could use some recommendations too if anyone has?! I am looking for an inexpensive florist and limo company, and a great photographer/videographer if you have any recommendations! thanks! :)
Hi! I'm a long island bride! I'm getting married in August of 2009 at Harbor Links. Still chugging along with the planning. FYI...for those of you who are just starting I would highly suggest going to bridal showcases. Good way to have all the vendors in one place, plus they provide some sort of discount when signing with them that day. I know the following shows are coming up. I'm planning to go and hope to see you there!
Fox Hollow - October 1
Leonards of Great Neck - October 2
Hi I am a long Island bride tooo! Just booked with Westbury manor: Sep 27 2009!!!
I am just wondering how do you decide the color scheme for your wedding... I loved the combination of dark plum purple and Gold for an end of summer/ begining of fall wedding but the interior of my reception room is: Burgendy color wood wall and then sage green carpet... Does it sounds alright with gold and plum purple? Here is the website: http://www.westburymanor.com/ Pls help!
They have a bridal showcase for booked couple only on the 29th of October 08.
GL on planning!!!
Zoe
I'm a Long Island Bride! I'm getting married at the Pine Hollow Inn....It's perfect!!! I haven't done much of anything else tho.
Hi SherriBerri, I"m getting married at the Fox Hollow! My wedding is in just a few weeks. I see you have plenty of time for planning left, how's it going?
Chyfire, I'll be moving to brooklyn after the wedding. I live on LI now. Why are you doing your wedding on LI?
Things are going good, still checking out vendors. Hows your photographer? thats my biggest concern! Who are you using?
That room is gorgeous. The food there is great too. I went to wedding there in November and I was very excited about the quantity and quality of food presented.
Fox Hollow is nice, we looked at that as well. Vendor recs- we hired Henry Chan as our photographer, www.henryshoots.com . We love his style, and djnyc for music, www.djnyc.com . They dj-ed 2 weddings for friends of mine and were amazing.
Check out Artisan Photogroup artisanphotogroup.com/ Chuck is great. He did my girlfriends wedding, and some workers of my sisters. I met with many people on the island, and was happiest with him in terms of photography styles and price combination.
we found www.agatonstrom.com for our photographer. amazing pics and he was willing to work with us on our budget. he is located in the city but is tarvelling out to us in westbury. great guy. our wedding is in a month so i'll let you how our pics come out! x
I was a long island bride. I got married at the Vanderbilt Mansion at Dowling College
I'm getting married on LI too at Jericho Terrace.
LIweddings.com is a good forum too.
Hi All~
I am currently living in queens but ultimately want my wedding on since my finance and I grew up there. We've only been engaged for a little over a month. We just went to see the Watermill in Smithtown because every time i passed by this place, i always dreamed of getting married here when i was a child. now that i've seen the place, i wasn't really blown away. my friend got married at Lands End and just requested more information and found fox hollow to be something to look at as well.
Are there any other "wow" places i should look at? my finance and i are very busy workers and don't have much time to look at venues so looking at more than 5 or 6 places seem outrageous to us.
Thanks for all your help ladies!
I am getting married i a few weeks at The Riviera in Massapequa - Michele is awesome to work with and very accommodating! I am also using Lana Rowe Photography - she is really cool and doesn't put any pressure on you!
HI I'm late, but I'm a Long Island bride. I am getting Married at The Riviera in Massapequa 7/17/2011. Cant wait
I am an NYC bride but two of my vendors that I LOVED are based in Long Island. Thomas Paul Photo did my photography and Make-up from Mia did my hari and make-up...I am obsessed with both!! Check out a pic of my hair/make-up! If you search my posts you can find engagement pics also done by thomas paul...I jsut got married so I don't have my pro pics back from them!
@lauren810c: I used Mia for my own wedding and she was GREAT!
LIbride is kinda blah. I had to do my own research. it's hard to do your research when you are in Long Island since there are not many places that are good. I will share mine.
Makeup artist: http://www.ellenbmakeup.com
She is Absolutely the best makeup artist in NYC, I still use her when I go out to events. She travels to you too.
Flowers: Joan Smith from Port Washington. Tel. 767-6601
Her flowers were modern and spectacular! The place is a Hidden gem. Unfortunately there is no website.
Wedding Invitations: I did my own wedding invitations but I design invitations for a living.
Wedding Cake: I would recommend Cakes by Jay in Long island. He was featured in Food network.
